"...Now, if you would all hand in your essays on Inanimatus Conjurus spells that I set you for homework, that would be very much appreciated," Dumbledore was saying as he walked up and down the front of the classroom, addressing his fifth year students. There was a scramble as the teenagers rooted through their bags to retrieve their essays and rolled up parchments, placing them on the desks in front of them.
Minerva had already gotten the essay out and had simply tucked it under a textbook for the duration of the lesson so that she only had to lift the book and hand it in pretty quickly once requested to do so.
Lyall had also done that but that was probably because they were both pretty eager about the subject, unlike the rest of the class. The rest of the students more or less liked the subject but mostly because the fun loving and hilarious Professor Dumbledore taught it.
Personally, Euphemia didn't really understand the subject but when she had been friends with Minnie, she had managed to muddle through it a little better due to her best friend helping her through the majority of it.
Now that Mia and Minerva were no longer friends, the girl found herself struggling a little more with the subject and it was with a grimace that she handed her essay over to a smiling Dumbledore as he came around to collect their homework.
"I don't think I did very well on that," Eileen, who sat next to her in this class ever since Euphemia decided to move away from Minerva, whispered in her ear and Mia chuckled in reply, responding reassuringly as she had pretty much flunked that essay also.
On the other side of the classroom, Charlus was bragging to Alastor that he had done amazingly well on the essay but the Scottish boy simply rolled his eyes at his best mate as a few girls behind the boys sighed dreamily and stared at the two of them longingly.
"If you did so great then you can help me next time," Eugenia turned around in her seat and spoke in quite a flirtatious manner to Charlus with a challenging expression accompanying her words, to which Charlus scrunched up his face in a disgruntled fashion.
"It's a hard pass, darling," he teased her and Alastor smirked a little as Eugenia tossed her blonde hair back, "I thought you were brilliant at this subject though?" she asked him with a pout, pretending to look thoughtful but Charlus simply flipped her off.
Euphemia watched the entire scenario play out in front of her with a strange feeling bubbling up inside of her and she turned away, planting her chin in her palm because she would've loved to laugh along with them but she couldn't because they, with the exception of Eugenia, didn't like her whatsoever.
Dumbledore clapped his hands for attention from the class, "Settle down everyone," he commanded and everyone turned back around, ceasing their chatter and staring expectantly at the professor.
"As you know, your O.W.L examinations start later on this year so it is particularly important that you pay attention in all of your classes, Transfiguration especially because it is much more complex and difficult than other subjects," Dumbledore told them and a few of the students groaned at the reminder of exams.
"So, does that mean I don't have to pay attention in any other lessons?" Charlus piped up, earning himself a high five from Alastor but Dumbledore simply chuckled.
"No, Mr Potter. It does not, you must pay attention in all of your lessons, no matter the...uh....distractions," Dumbledore replied, his eyes flitting briefly to an oblivious Mia, who was sat a few rows in front of Charlus.
Everyone but Charlus, including Euphemia herself as she was doodling on a piece of spare parchment, missed what Dumbledore was hinting at and Charlus flushed a little, scowling at his professor.
