Florean genuinely couldn't believe it. He was absolutely gobsmacked, his mouth was hanging open as he stared at his two best friends, who had been snogging a few minutes previously. No, forget gobsmacked...he was utterly flabbergasted."When did this happen?" he exclaimed dramatically, gesturing between Mia and Charlus as the latter chuckled, Euphemia blushing slightly before she tucked a strand of her brown hair behind her ear nervously, knowing that Florean's reaction to her next answer might not be positive.
"Uh, about a week ago," she practically whispered, rather sheepishly, and David went to laugh but managed to hide it behind a hacking cough, leading Charlus to whack him on the back whilst all three of them glanced at Florean, awaiting his response with slight anticipation.
"A WEEK??" Florean screeched, appearing absolutely outraged, "WHY DIDN'T YOU TELL ME?" he looked from Charlus to Mia and back again, making him look like he was watching a tennis match, his head turning abruptly to each of them, shocked.
"Keep your voice down, man," Charlus hissed at him, grinning despite himself and Florean narrowed his eyes at his friend, "Don't tell me what to do, Potter. You....you traitor! How could you keep such a massive secret from me?" he cried out, turning his head away from Charlus, making David pat him on the head in a comforting manner before pulling him into a hug.
Charlus saw the affectionate gesture but didn't say anything, a brief look of confusion flashing over his face before he turned questioningly to Euphemia, who flashed him a nervous smile.
"Speaking of secrets...what's going on here?" Charlus asked slowly, gesturing to David and Florean who were now speaking quietly to one another, the latter saying something that was making David laugh heartily as he squeezed Florean's hand lovingly.
Florean span around, appearing rather startled before he took a deep breath and quickly pulled his hand out of David's grip, "Nothing," he said hastily, "So, what's happening with you and Mia? It's about time!" he changed the subject abruptly, a rather fake, bright tone lacing his words.
Charlus stared at him for a moment, seeming quite baffled and curious but tactfully ignored his inner questions and gripped Mia's hand, pulling her towards him as he answered, "We're dating," he confirmed but, before he could say anything else, Florean squealed loudly, clapping his hands together.
"I'm so proud! My babies are growing up!" Florean beamed before pulling them both into a massive hug, holding onto Euphemia a little longer as he bounced on the balls of his feet, looking at them happily.
"Mate, I'm older than you," Charlus laughed but he also appeared happy. As much as Mia didn't want people to know, he was glad that they had an excuse to tell Florean because, out all of their friends, Florean would've been the one person that Charlus wanted to tell the most, as well as Minnie.
"Whatever. I'm more mature," Florean waved his hands dismissively and Charlus scoffed, "You wish," he replied with a grin, his eyes sparkling in a challenging fashion which led Florean to give him a dead-pan stare, Euphemia giggling slightly in the background.
"Charlus, you turned a suit of armour into a pig and then proceeded to ride it down the marble staircase whilst singing the national anthem so don't even try to claim that you're more mature than me, peasant," Florean reminded him with an air of superiority.
"You did what? When?" Mia questioned her boyfriend incredulously, speaking for the first time in a while and Charlus sniggered, "It was during fourth year, I think," he told her and she raised an eyebrow, "So childish. I would've thought you'd grown out of silly pranks like that, Potter. You have to think outside the box now, you child."
