Promises

The silence that had taken over the room felt suffocating, painful even, like it was sucking at everything around the room, draining every single once of strength left in those gathered there. Leonard had his arms crossed over his chest and was glancing out the window, his lips pressed into a thin line.

"Are you sure it was her?" asked Kendra, not for the first time, she glanced from Rip to Jax and then back to Rip.

"Yeah" Rip nodded, he was standing next to the door, leaning against the wall, trying his best to look as serious as he could, but Kendra could see behind his façade, maybe because she had been the only one to see more than the rest about Rip's interactions with Greta. "There's no doubt"

"You said your friend was in trouble" barked Gabriel, Martin looked at him. "But she's not in trouble, she is one of them!" he growled and pushed himself away from the wall, his eyes over Rip. "Not just one of them, she's their leader"

"They did something to her" Jax finally said, he had been the last person to see Greta, before that day. "That wasn't her, you all know that just as well as I do"

"She's been gone less than four days," pointed out Sara. "I've never seen anyone turn that fast" she looked around the room. "Or break that fast and be built up again like that"

"Maybe she's been away longer than we think" Mick finally spoke, every head turned to look at him, Gabriel and Isaac a lot more confused than the rest of the Waverider.

"What are you talking about?" asked Martin, Mick who was looking down at his feet, looked up, his eyes over Rip.

"You know that just as well as I do"

"Time freeze" whispered Rip, he tensed his jaw. "But I think Savage knows better than to try that"

"What the hell are you talking about?" asked Jax, he frowned, looking between Mick and Rip.

"You think he cares?" asked Mick, and there was something in his voice that made Kendra's heart ache.

"No," Rip shook his head. "But from what we've seen, Pines might"

"So, what you think happened to her?" asked Ray, "And most importantly, what do we do now?"

"We need to go back to the Waverider" Rip said. "Mr. Palmer and Dr. Stein need to try and find the frequency of the devise that opened the portal" he glanced at Martin and then at Ray. "Once we can open it, we can find her, bring her with us"

"Unless she comes for us first" said Leonard, he turned to look at Rip. "Like she said she would"

"Then we take her when she comes" said Rip, "If she comes" he held Leonard's gaze for a few seconds, Leonard narrowed his eyes at Rip, there was something behind Rip's eyes that wasn't there the other times he had worried about Greta, but Leonard couldn't put a finger over what it was. "We need her on the Waverider to know what to do next"

"We have the device" said Ray, "I think we can rewind the frequency to find out where its coming from" he glanced at Martin "We can go back there now"

"We can't leave them here, not alone" said Jax "She said she was going to come," he looked around the room. "She will kill them if we are not here to stop her and her team"

"I'll go with Martin to the Waverider" said Ray, he glanced at Martin and then at Kendra. "With the camouflage and the security, I doubt they'll try to get inside"

"If we go now, we might be able to figure it out by tomorrow" Martin added.

"Sounds like a plan" Rip rubbed his forehead, he sighed and pushed himself off the wall. "The rest of us will stay here"
