Riley's POV

We sat at a nearby food truck at the park. I was dying for a beef taco with cheese.

"Jeff, I'm scared to know how Mulan acted with your grandma today. I haven't even called either, Mulan Just haven't been herself since her dad's passing."

"Girl we just have to take it a day at a time. Mulan will heal over time just like you."

I started to slowly get in my feelings again. This shit just can't be real.

"My life is fucking over Jeff. I can't see myself moving on from this it has already been months and still it hurts."

"Riley snap out of it bitch ! I know you're hurting but you have other shit to live for like YOUR DAUGHTER !! You can go back to school like you always wanted to do. Akeem left you all of his assets... maybe you should work at the Salon to keep
You busy."

"Ugh. Riley you're really being selfish right now ! I'm due in less than 2 weeks. I lost someone too. My baby won't even know her dad. At least Mulan did." Monica snapped.

"Damn! Girl chill the fuck out. She didn't mean anything by it. The whole situation is fucked up on both ends." Jeff explained

I wanted to jump across this tiny ass table at Monica right now. Her little remark pissed me off.

"You're right Jeff. It was Travis fucking fault anyway from what I heard." I said with an eye roll.

"So that's how you feel Riley ?" Monica asked

"Sure and the fuck do." Riley said with a shrug

"Ooop.... Ooop" Jeff jumped being dramatic waiting for Monica's response.

"Fuck both of y'all." Monica got up from the table

"Wait wait so you not gone take us home?" Jeff asked

Monica ignored him and walked to her car and left.

Jeff gave me a funny look and burst into laughter.

"I really shouldn't have said that to her." Riley protest

"Well... fuck it. I'm behind you right or wrong sis."

"Hey Jeff. I haven't gotten Akeem's death certificate yet. I've sent for it but it hasn't come back yet. That's strange."

"Maybe they are just running behind Riley. You are always stressing yourself about something."

"Yeah. You're right. I'm ready to go. Let me call us a Uber." Riley laughed.
