DREAM

"You've got a new assignment D.A. This is the file. Go through it. They want the work to be done in seven days" The same old man in his late forties informed Aadhya, eyeing the file. Aadhya picked up the file from the table and nodded without opening it.

Placing both her hands on the table, she directly stared into his eyes. "My share is still the same, but why seven days? And as per my regular conditions, I need to know everything about the task."

"They are paying us very good. Why do you care for the reason? Just do it. And moreover if you want, go through the file. Its just a simple yet a hard task." The man told her, and give her two lakh rupees as an advance.

Aadhya cautiously stuffed the money inside her black jacket, making sure that she won't let the displeasure show up on her face. She knew that this would be her last assignment. After that, she would flee away with what she wanted from a long time.

"Give me an hour, I'll be there in the factory base and then be on way back." She supposed.

Aadhya walked out the office room with full attitude and descended the staircase to make her way to the basement. Reaching there, her first work was to push away the curtain over a single window in the room and allowing the moonlight to come in so that it would help her to study the file.

Pulling her phone out of her back pocket, Aadhya's fingers swiftly moved over the screen, dialing her assistant Erica Andrew's phone number. Erica received the call in just two rings.

"Aadhya ma'am? What can I do for you?" Erica asked, without bothering to even ask who Aadhya was. But then, this was the way they usually spoke to each other.

"Stop calling me that and I want you to go through our database and check if there is any record against my next assignment." Aadhya ordered her.

"Sure thing, just let me know the name."

Aadhya didn't know why, but her heart had suddenly started beating wildly as she held her phone between her shoulder and ear and opened the file.

"Veer Mehrotra."

Aadhya read out the name that was written in bold. A gasp left her lips, as she realized what was happening. The only thing came to her mind was to drop the task. She could never fulfill it. She would never want or even force herself to do it. Few minutes later, Aadhya heard Erica talking.

"Sorry mam, but there are no records against him in our police database." Erica informed her.

"There won't be! I know that." Aadhya mumbled, lost in her thoughts.

"What?"

"Nothing." Aadhya sighed.

Aadhya hung up without hearing what Erica was asking her. Her mind was filled with the thoughts of Veer and the lovely time she'd spent with him. With him around, she was Aadhya, just the Aadhya was. There is no way she was going to do the assignment. But the she had worked very hard for the day, when those people would completely trust her and now that the day was so close, she couldn't risk to make a blunder. She can't let the opportunity to slip out of her hands more when she was so close to her destination.
