Aadhya's POV
I took a deep breath, as I stared into my reflection. Its been two good hours after I locked myself in bathroom. I was still processing what I saw downstairs.
Found you D.A.
It was written in blood. I clearly remember the smell of blood. At that moment panic knocked me down and I ran into my room and locked myself in here. I put the toilet lid down and sat on it pulling my knees to my chest and kept rocking.
I don't know if it was the blood, the letter or my nightmare that was haunting me. I don't know why I ran from there? Was it because someone found me? Was the letter really a warning note or just a prank?
"Who are you?" I asked to my reflection. "Why are people behind you? What did you did to them? When did all these started? And most important, when will all these end?"
When I'd woken up from coma and realized that I lost my memories, that time I'd managed to stay composed. But as the days went on and small small secrets were being revealed, I felt like I'm soon going to lose my mind.
I blinked to push back the unshed tears and slowly walked out over to the boxes laid out on my bed. Khanna Ji saw me running upstairs and rushed behind me to see if I was okay. I asked him to get everything in my room.
It was already lunch time, but I had no appetite so I decided to skip the lunch and instead focus on the files sent by Erica. Skipping my meds once won't hurt, I thought. I was not sure if it was okay to call Veer, but I didn't wanted to disturb him anymore. I picked Erica's note and opened it.
Aadhya Mam,
I got the test results two days before only, but I couldn't get back to you since I met with a small road accident, fracturing my left arm and few bruises. You are the Aadhya/DA I used to work with.
I hope you'll find something that will help you out from these files. These are the list of your targets. (You know that you used to work as a contract killer, don't you?)
Well, FYI, all the people you encountered, (encountered because you did it to help the police) were incredibly rich bastards (criminals) who used their money and power in wrong way and always covered up their crime, mostly drunk driving accidents and molestation and sometimes slavery. All of them had cases pending against them but police couldn't prove them guilty.
I don't know who gave you this idea, someone from the police department was helping you.
You worked with the contract killers to expose them. I mean, because of those people, crime rate in our city had increased. Two years ago, most of the people paid such killers to finish their opponents. After a time, all such killers came together and formed an organization which harmed both the parties, the one who paid and the one who the paid people wanted dead. Because, rich people started to target each other to become more powerful.
Later, poor people were out of this because riches targeted only other riches.
But the real power started to reside in the hands of the killers. They named their organisation as K&F i.e. kill and flee.
All this had created a havoc in police officers lives. Innocents and guilty both were killed by unknown people. Those contract killers were too swift, calculative and careful in their work. They never left any evidences back to trace them. It was turning hard for the police to bring everything under control.
That time, my older sister, Delilah Andrews, was returning back from her training. She was a sharp shooter(so as you are). I'm a hacker FYI. We didn't knew that my dad used to work as contract killer. You see, they were very good at covering up everything and end up with a clean slate. You won't even know if the person with you is one of them or not. When, I tried to knock down some senses in his mind, he kicked me out for being unfaithful to him when I was 22.
