The leaves crunched under my feet as I stormed back towards the bonfire, Olivia jogging to keep up behind me. "Bri...", she said weakly. I released her hand turned to her, "I'm gonna take of it, don't worry". He eyes were puffy and she sniffed. "Bri, he's not worth it...", she tried to sound strong, but her voice cracked. I looked at her broken face. She deserved the world, she deserved a guy who gave her the world. Anger bubbled in my chest.
Pushing further towards the bonfire, I grabbed a random guy out of the crowd. "What's your name?", he smirked. "Have you seen Quinton Miles?", I said loudly, ignoring his horrible attempt at flirting. His face fell and he dejectedly pointed over to the drink table. There Quinton stood, sipping out of his plastic cup and grinning stupidly.
My eyes narrowed. "Bri, please don't do anything stupid", Olivia rubbed her temples. "Stay here", I said, squeezing her hand then turning on my heel. I was quickly approaching Quinton and his stupid circle of friends, when a strong hand reached out and grabbed my arm. "I've been looking for you all night", the smell of smoke and peppermint filled my nose and I stopped in my tracks. I looked up at Sirius. His hair was windswept and he looked calmer than he did earlier.
I glanced over my shoulder at Quinton, who was doubled over in laughter, "Now's not really a good time, Sirius". His face fell, but he quickly recovered. "What's got your robes in a twist, sunshine?", he said, leaning over me. I looked back over at Quinton. He pointed to a girl across the clearing, and his eyes scanned her boy. I let out a low growl and clenched my fists.
"Hey, asshole!", I yelled at the top of my lungs. People all around stopped talking and stared, but I didn't care. The group of boys around Quinton turned, their faces mildly amused as they watched me storm over. "I'm talking to you, Miles", I said, now standing just a few feet away from him. He raised his eyebrows at me and took a step forward. "What are you on about?", he laughed. I gritted my teeth.
"How dare you disrespect Olivia like that you disgusting cheater", I spit. Everyone around had now stopped moving completely, and were watching with bated breath. Olivia stood on the edge of the crowd, her face paler by the minute. Quinton snorted and took a deep drink from his cup, "Stay out of things you don't understand, Carter". My face flushed with anger. I pulled my wand out of my back pocket and lifted it so it hovered inches away from his face. A few of his friends moved forward, but he held up a hand.
"Come on, Briony", he laughed, a cocky edge to his voice, "You're better than this". I opened my mouth to retort, a thousand different angry phrases filling my brain, but I never got a chance to say any of them. "You're right", Sirius suddenly appeared from behind me, "She is better than that, but I'm not". Sirius' fist connected with Quinton's nose and a loud crack sounded. Then, everything went to shit.
