"Ella, you look wonderful!", Jerry assures.

"Maybe I should have worn a dress. I mean, Taylor would have liked that more, wouldn't she?", I whine, turning this way and that in front of a tall mirror wearing a classic black tuxedo.

Jerry stands up and walks towards me. She places her hands on my shoulders and stares with me into the mirror.

"I think you look beautiful", she says with a smile.

"Well, of course you'd say that. You have to say that!"

"Ella, I swear to god, you lo-"

Mum rushes into the room.

"They're about to start!!", she squeals, wringing her hands frantically and hopping from one foot to the other as if she were walking over hot coals.

"I'm not ready!"

"Yes, you are!", Jerry hisses and leaves to take her seat, pushing me towards the door as she does.

My mother adjusts my suit and checks the little bits of lace around the sleeves. She brushes off nothing from my back and fiddles with the flower in my hair.

"Oh, you're a doll!", she beams. My father peaks his head around the door.

"Ready to go in here?", he asks as he reaches out a hand.

"Oh god", I whisper.

"You'll be great! Good luck!", Jerry smiles and leaves, quickly.

Dad takes my hand and the music starts up. Mum rushes into her pew and smiles back at me with the rest of my family. Jerry swipes a Nintendo away from a now-nineteen-year-old Angelo and he abruptly turns his neck to also look back.

Taylor's family is seated on the right hand side. Scott, Andrea and Austin sit at the very top, adjacent to my family. I gulp as the music starts.

Slowly, I'm lead up to the top of the isle and wait patiently for Taylor, whom I hadn't seen all day.

"You're real sweaty", Dad whispers with a pat of my hand and then goes to sit down. He did that on purpose, trying to make me more nervous than I already was. He gives me a knowing smirk from his seat. Jerry looks on proudly, handing my mother a tissue to dry her happy tears and not taking her eyes off of me for a second.

This hadn't been rehearsed well. We had ran out of time. In fact, we'd only had one rehearsal for this whole thing! Not to worry, this'll be easy. You have everything you need to say on a pretty silver pamphlet, Ella...

Except your fucking vows.

I grit my teeth. I'm okay, I think to myself. Almost no rehearsal, no really well thought out vows, and no idea of where Taylor is right now or why she feels the need to make me wait this long.

I'm okay.

Suddenly, the doors open. Daylight pierces through the opening, so bright that everyone has to squint as they gaze back, hopefully.

"Mother of god!", Indy exclaims as she places a hand above her eyes.

"I told you we didn't need those extra box lights", Jerry says.

"Is your fiancé the sun?", the priest whispers as he leans into me ear, also squinting. I laugh,

"We thought it would be darker at this hour. It's Octob-"

I'm interrupted by hushing and soft giggling. The music plays again.

There she is.

Not a dazzling, vibrant white, but a soft and elegant cream. The dress itself is huge. I'm wondering how she's not going to trip up. A veil with matching cream roses circles her head. She's smiling so wide and I must be too because my cheeks are suddenly aching. It feels like a million eternities before she finally makes it to the top, flawlessly adjusting her dress as she stands.

"Off to a bright start", I hear Jerry mutter towards Angelo who is now softly giggling with her. She's elbowed by Mum and I clench my jaw as I try not to laugh at the remark. Thanks a lot, Jerr.

It all goes pretty smoothly, no thanks to my sister and brother who go out of their way to try and make me laugh just once. I finally break when Jerry whispers, "Fuckin' hell!" once the rings are presented. The warmhearted onlookers must have either heard her too or are laughing dolefully at me because they think I'm about to get all giggly and nervous.

Taylor is the first to say her vows. She seems pretty confident. I hope she's not expecting too much from me...

"Ella, I promise that I will be your sunshine on your darkest of days. Love, hope, faith...these are the things that I have for you. For us. My heart had never loved until now. My eyes had never seen anyone more beautiful than what stands before me. I promise to be your absolute everything"

The ring, large sapphires decorating the front, is slid onto my finger. I take a breath to let her words sink in. There's a long silence. Someone coughs. Taylor looks at me eagerly.

"Ach du meine güte", Jerry sighs, pinching the bridge of her nose.

"Taylor...", I begin.

There's a shuffling as everyone leans in.

"...I promise that...when your days are grey...your stars have fallen...and your nights are cold...that I will be the light from the heavens creeping through the rain clouds that keeps you hopeful and happy. I will be a star catcher and lead you from darkness into light. You are my sunshine, so I shall be the moon, for the moon cannot glow without the light of the sun"

The crowd claps, warmly. I give Taylor an expression that reads: "Bet you're glad you didn't have to top that!". I slide on her ring.

"Taylor, do you take Ella to be your lawful wedded wife?"

"I do"

"And Ella, do you take Taylor to be your lawful wedded hus-oh cra- I mean. Wife?"

Did I mention that this wasn't rehearsed very well?

"I do!", I giggle.

"Then, by the power vested in me, I hereby pronounce you husband and-"

"Joseph!", my mother whispers loudly, alerting him of his mistake. Taylor brings a hand to her mouth as she laughs with the crowd, teary eyed and blushing.

"Husband and Joseph?", he asks.

Jerry is doubled over and gripping to Angelo and Indys shoulders as she giggles.

"Oh, wife! By the power vested in me, I hereby pronounce you wife and wife! You may now kiss the bride!"

There's a hesitation as we process the words. We were both the bride.

"Uhh..", I utter. The wedding has turned into a comedy act.

"Just kiss me!", Taylor smiles and pulls me in.

And we do. There's applauding, cheering, camera flashes.

We were married.
