Lemon kept his hands firm on the wheel as he drove down the empty road. As far as the eye could see, it was just the strip of concrete and pure deserted land on both sides of it. He imagined that this road would continue on for eternity, and time would cease to go forward. Lemon wanted time to freeze so he could revel in a reality of silence and peace.

Unfortunately for him, such a moment was almost imaginary.

"When the hell are we getting to our destination? I'm starving!" Nova whined from the back of the van. She stretched her legs out from the back seat across Kalopsia and Mira who sat beside her. The thirteen staff members were all going to the first ever Wattcon in California, and all of them were signed up to be the hosts of the event. As happy as the idea sounded, none of them were happy to be in a crowded van for fourteen straight hours.

The driver looked in the rearview mirror to get a good look at the lazy passenger. "Well, Nova dear, if you wouldn't have eaten all the snacks twenty minutes ago we wouldn't be having this issue," he said.

"It is not my fault that the only things you brought were two applesauce cups and a bag of pret-"

"Anyways," the driver interrupted. "I think we're almost there! Are you ready, kiddos?"

"We're not kids," outbursted Kal who was uncomfortably squished in-between Nova and Mira. "Some of us are in fact older than you."

Two rows up from the three sat Rotten and Stalene on the left side of the van. She was looking at her cosmetic mirror and applying makeup. However, Bear, who sat in the row behind her drove her foot into the leather seat in front of her. "Ow!" Rotten said, dropping her makeup. "Lemon, Bear keeps kicking my seat and won't stop!"

"Well, I'm trying to stretch my legs!" Bear argued, slumped in her seat. She silently snickered at a volume her victim wouldn't be able to hear.

Lemon huffed silently. "And you all want to convince me you're not children."

"Well, in light of this unpleasant drive, I am personally excited for Wattcon!" Neon said, already decked out in orange clothing with the Wattpad logo stamped all over it.

"I agree," added Clovie, who sat next to Neon. "Though, the venue that was rented can only hold one-thousand people so I hope we don't have five-thousand some people show up and make this event a bust."

"Oh, please," Alpha chimed in from one of the back rows. No one had chose to sit next to him, so his arm was slumped over the seat next to him. "Not even four-hundred members are going to show up to this shitshow."

Neon turned around to face him with a particular glare shining in her eyes. "Hey, you're helping host this "shitshow" so I expect you to make some good out of it!"

Clovie shrugged. "We could always lie and say twenty-thousand people showed up in case it does become a bust."

"Why do we even have to host this?" Mandy whined. She held a cassette player in her hands with a tape titled "Play It By Ear Vol. 1". The music coming out of her earbuds didn't have the loudness to drown out the fighting.

Neon went back to facing the front of the van, smiling like a fool. "Because, I am your leader and I don't want to be an embarrassment when none of you show up."

"Your look isn't helping alleviate the embarrassment," Nova said with a hand over her forehead.

"Can everyone just shut up and talk about something else other than Neon and her god-awful clothing?" Alpha suggested in a blunt tone. He turned to look out the window he sat next to, watching the desert pass by.
