Chapter Sixteen

Roque Avengers P.O.V

Sitting in the gardens of Wakanda was the favorite part of Steve's day, with the beautiful flowers and clean fresh smell he could come here and relax while he draws, they had made a small arrangement with T'challa he would allow all of them to stay as long as they stay hidden in turn they would be able to go out and do missions while keeping under the radar giving off the impression that they were never there, he had finished his daily exercise had a nice long shower and just sat down when one of the Dora came and stood beside him.

“The king requests your and the rest of the Avengers presence in the common room”

It wasn't the first time they were requested the Avengers were on a mission when the throne was   taken over by Erik killmonger and only Arrived back when it was dealt with T'challa had informed them that he was going to reveal Wakanda to the world and it may gain unwelcome attention so they had to be more careful about how they deployed their missions he was just glad they were able to continue that T'challa understood the need to be able to protect people from harm so he didn't ask or even imply them to stop even with the amount of harm it could do if they were caught which made him, even more, determent to not get caught.

Upon arrival, Steve could see the rest of the avenger were already gathered around the living space Natasha, Clint, and Wanda sat together on the long futon while Scott and Sam took the two-seater while he took the single, T'challa had allowed them to live in the guest wing it had become their little home.

“Do you know what this is about Nat?” Steve asks glancing around the room waiting for the king's arrival he wanted to go see Bucky again he could understand why he wanted to go back into cryo but it still felt like he was losing him all over again.

Shaking her head“No the Dora just told us the king requested our presence I know not to ask questions” Natasha said turning her head toward T'challa arrival followed by his Dora bodyguards.

“I have asked you here to inform you of Mr. Starks arrival in a few hours, it would be best if you stayed in the guest wing until Mr. Starks departure,” T'challa said watching a cascade of emotions pass over the Avengers face, Anger, Sadness, and the most prominent Guilt “He and Mr. Rhodes will be here as my guest”.

The mere mention of Rhodes had Sam winching with regret as the memory of Rhodes fall tormented his dreams just like his best friend Riley's did he couldn't save Riley and he didn't save Rhodes if he just didn't roll out of the way if he just had taken the hit Rhodes would still have his legs.

“what does stark want” Clint ask bitterly.

“Not Completely sure Mr. Barton but I'll inform all of you if it's anything of importance but as I said to stay inside the guest wing,” T'Challa said before nodding his goodbye and leaving with his Dora bodyguards trailing behind.

Watching the king leave an ache had settled in his chest tony was going to be in Wakanda and Steve wouldn't be able to see him he did regret the way they had left things the way he left leaving tony behind it wasn't the way he wanted thing to go but it had and he couldn't take them back, Bucky was his best friend his brother and the most important person at the time thinking back to the fight he should have realized tony wouldn't have killed bucky but I'll he could think about was protecting him.

“Steve” Sam called out shaking away his thoughts, he looked around to see most of the Avengers were already gone and Sam was kneeling in front of him “you okay you've been zoning out for a while now”.

“I'm fine just need to go for a walk, clear my head before Tony get here,” Steve explains as he stood he could see the concern in Sam's eyes but he just pushes it at the back of his mind.

Watching as Steve left the room Sam turned to head to his room only to come to a stop, Natasha standing against the wall staring at where Steve had left “You okay” Sam asked.

“How is he doing,” Natasha asks in return completely ignoring Sams question which didnt surprise him she always looked after everyone but herself even when she didn't have to.

“He's dealing just like everyone else is,” Sam says going to stand before Natasha “it was a big change for all of us”.

Shaking her head as she stood from the wall “He's keeping something from us I just know it”.

“What do you mean, like what”

“I don't know but ill find out,” Natasha said patting Sam on the shoulder before she left.

They didn't know what had happened at the Hydra base only that Steve and Bucky had come back badly injured and bucky was missing an arm from the fight but that was only what Steve had told them and somehow he knew that wasn't the whole truth but he just didn't ask further, now hearing someone else saying what Sam was believing made him think he should have asked for more information he just wasn't sure Steve was going to give it, leaving him with more questions than answers and making him more worried than he was before

What happened to stark was he okay.

How badly was he hurt?

And what wasn't Steve telling them?

Maybe he was too afraid to ask.
