*“Tony we need to talk,”*

*“No we don't, you need to go Steve” *

Those words haunt tony endlessly, it been a month since the attack on Hawaii and tony couldn't get that moment out of his head, steve was right there, right there but Tony couldn't do it he should have told steve but he couldn't do it, does Steve deserve to know yes he does, does steve deserve to be part of his own daughter life most definitely, every fiber of his being wanted to tell him, just a big part of him deep down didn't want Steve to know, so he didn't tell him and God doesn't that make tony feel like shit.

So here he sits with the phone in his hand AGAIN, having an internal struggle whether he should or shouldn't call Steve and tell him, he wished he could just jump headfirst into his work and forget about it but since the checkup the doctor had told Pepper and Rhodey the baby was under somewhat stress probably affected by Tony stress and the battle of Hawaii he was sentenced to bed rest, not to mention Tony was two months away from his due date the doctors didn't want to take chances and neither did Pepper or Rhodey in which they banned him from the workshop and made sure Friday didnt allow him in, its ridiculous they were plotting against him J.J was ready but now he is stuck in the freakin bed for freak sakes he could scream.

“Still pouting tones you know it's for your own good,” Rhodey said standing in the doorway, Tony Stark does not pout his lips aren't even plumpy so how could Rhodey see he was pouting in which he is not, he wanted to scream at Rhodey but he knew it wouldn't help he was bored, his hands are twitching his body was vibrating with energy he wanted something to do, he needed something to do.

“For your information, i don't pout,” Tony said earning a chuckle from Rhodey as he walked further into the room sitting at the end of the bed.

“What's up with you tony, you've been out of it since Hawaii talk to me,” Rhodey asked glancing down toward the phone in tony hand, Rhodey had hated the phone since he read the so say apology letter from Rogers, Rhodey had wanted tony to destroy the phone but he didnt he knew they still needed it.

“Steve was right there Rhodey God i wanted to tell him, i should have told him, he deserves to know,” Tony said gipping the phone a little tighter.

Watching as Rhodey's expression go from worry to anger was surprising tony had always thought Rhodey admire Steve for what he stood for and what he believed but since Tony came back from Siberia the mere mention of Steve's name made him angry, Rhodey cared and he was always protective, now he became even more overprotective, it gave him a warm feeling in his chest.

“Seriously Tone after everything they did, what he did to you, he hurt you any harder and it would have damaged your chest even worse than it already was, not to mention what if the base wasn't as empty as you thought it was if Zemo could get in it so easily who knows who could have been in there also even if there were no one the cold could have killed you if you didnt have any way out of there, if something worse had happened to you i..i.”

“Rhodey”.

“I.i wouldn't know what ill do, yes Rogers Deserves to know but it doesn't mean he should know and even if he did there is nothing he could do about it, he is a wanted criminal in 117 country's Tony do you really want that in your daughter's life” Rhodey ranted on not even hearing tony say his name, he hated that Rhodey had a point not because he thought Rogers would be a bad influence but because there was nothing he would be able to do even if he had wanted to(which tony have doubts about) but none the less.

“Okay maybe your right," Tony said interrupting Rhodey's ranting rendering the man silent“Maybe your right he doesn't need to know but i just...thought it would be better for her to have both her parents to be in her life to be there for her when she needs us”.

And just like that, the tension in Rhodey left him, Tony had lost his parents at a young age he was there when Tony found out too watch him close off and realize he was an orphan, it wasn't something he wanted to see again, Rhodey made sure to be there for him whenever he needed him when he was drunk, sober, used, and even when he was full of himself, Rhodey was there.

“we will always be there for her Tony, me, you, pepper, happy, vision, hell even peter and Charles will be there and speaking of how was your talk with him anyways,” Rhodey asked with a reassuring pat on Tony's leg earning a smile from Tony.

“It was counterproductive, like the king he couldn't give me his full support he understands why i want to do it but unless i get the thing going he can't help me and i can't get things going until after the baby is born so i can be more publicly available” Tony explained.

Nodding he had thought of the many answers Charles would have given tony, he just wished it could have helped Tony more“ sooo have you thought of a name yet”.

“Sarah Maria Stark, I know but it seems fair since we aren't going to tell him and don't try to change my mind” Tony stubbornly stated crossing his arms in defense.

Shaking his head Rhodey hated his stubbornness sometimes“What about shield” Rhodey ask it had been years since shield/Hydra had fallen well not completely they have been working off the radar and in the dark ever since doing god know what.

“Oh don't you worry gumdrop, i already have a plan,” Tony said giving him a brode smile, leaning backward rubbing his swollen stomach while Rhodey was completely memorized as he watched the baby move beneath Tony's hand.
