The sun was already setting. Lily and Bucky were walking side by side, enjoying the wonderful view in front of them. The pier was not too crowded; the food stalls looked so intriguing with warm-colored fairy lights on their roofs and walls. Everywhere they walk, they could smell a mix of hunger-causing fragrance from various kinds of food. It was such a beautiful day, and both Lily and Bucky felt so content.

"I like those kinds of lights," Bucky said as he pointed towards one of the food stalls. His shoulder-length hair followed the movements of the cold breeze. He was wearing his usual trucker cap, and it helped a lot with hiding his face. He also remembered to keep his hands in his pockets.

Lily smirked. "Me too. They look so magical, don't they?" Said she, followed by Bucky's nod. She somehow felt like she was hanging out with a celebrity, since Bucky had to hide his face and avoid being recognized and all that—but she didn't mind one bit.

"Hey. Hot dogs for dinner sound okay?" Lily pointed towards a hot dog stall near where they were walking. Bucky quickly nodded, already feeling hungry. They approached the stall and Lily ordered 2 hot dogs to the friendly-looking old man behind the counter.

After waiting for a few minutes, their hot dogs were ready. "Two hot dogs and one French fries," the man said as he handed the food to Lily.

"But we didn't order French fries," Lily said in confusion.

The friendly old man smiled and winked. "It's on me."

Lily laughed and thanked the man. "God, I love French fries so much," she muttered as she and Bucky sat on the soft sand near the coast line. "I had forgotten about free stuff perks when a girl doesn't wear a ring." She said it more to herself, and immediately regretted it.

"A ring?" Bucky instantly asked with clear curiosity in his tone. "Were you married?"

Lily sighed loudly and took a big bite of her hot dog before answering, "Almost, but never really got there. I was only engaged."

"Simone?" Bucky tried to guess.

Even just by hearing that name made her wince. "Yep."

Bucky shoved 4 pieces of French fries altogether into his mouth. He could only wonder about what happened between Lily and Simone, and whether it's polite to ask about it or not. The only fact he knew was that the girl seemed to resent her ex so much.

"Don't worry; it's just a stupid love problem. Also, I hope you don't think of me as a broken-hearted girl who can't get over her ex and is using you for a rebound guy," she said jokingly.

Bucky displayed a half-smile to try to cheer her up. "I don't think love is stupid—and I know you're not that kind of person."

"Have you ever fallen in love?" The question just slipped out of Lily's mouth.

"I don't... remember," Bucky started frowning.

"Oh... Sorry," the girl quickly apologized. She didn't want him to try to remember too hard and throw a "tantrum" right there and then, even though he was obviously getting better and more stable.

A few moments passed in silence as both of them finished their supper. Bucky turned around to see the girl, who was chewing the last piece of the French fries. The wind was blowing her hair which was tied into a messy ponytail. Her eyes were gleaming and so full of life, their color the same as the crescent moon above them. She wiped her mouth with a paper napkin, and it left a faint spot of her rose-colored lipstick—and somehow it made Bucky's heart skip a beat.

"I think this was preordained." Lily said after taking a big gulp of soda.

"What was?" Bucky quickly shifted his stare, afraid of being caught red-handed.
