There was nothing but silence, stretched out across the abyss of time. The silence lasted for a long time, but then it was broken by light. The light was strong, and it burnt through time. At the edge of the universe sat Chaos, watching over everything from her palace. She saw the light and closer, discovering that it was an evil light. It shone with a deep malice, a malice that would lead it to do many horrible things. It would take the form of a child on Chaos's favorite world, and it would tear everything down if it wasn't stopped.
Chaos could not let her world be torn down, something would have to be done. She would choose her champions, and they would save the Earth.
Chaos thought of the story that the mortals had invented, a story about the end of the world, and they ones who would bring it about. She smiled at an idea, she would call the saviors of Earth the name the mortals had decided its destroyers would have. Now she just had to find them, but who should she choose?
----line-break--------------------
Percy Jackson struggled to reach the gorge. After three days of running from the pack of monsters that were always right behind him, he was ready for a rest. He figured that if he reached the gorge the monsters could only fit one through the opening at a
time, it would e easy to pick them off as the entered to kill him. An amazing plan, one that Odysseus himself would approve of, but the one thing that absolutely needed to happen was that Percy get to the gorge. He never made it.
He was only a few feet away, a few agonizing feet, when the monsters caught him. He turned warily at the sound of hisses and snarls. The pack was composed of; a few hellhounds, one or two storm spirits, a horde of Empousai, a herd of evil centaurs, and what monster pack would be complete without thirty man eating giants! in other words, Percy was in a tough spot.
Percy raised Riptide, preparing himself for what was to come. The 67 monster surged forward. Percy gave a yell as he summoned the ocean from within himself, but nothing happened. Percy supposed he should have seen that coming, after all, Poseidon had disowned him.
As the monsters reached him, Percy struck out with his sword. Three centaurs instantly vaporized, leaving only 65 monsters to deal with. The battle continued, and after taking down 15 more monsters Percy entered a kind of trance. He was so focused on surviving, and killing the monsters that he didn't even realize that there were only ten monsters left.
He would have killed the res of them as well, but he got distracted. A twig snapped, causing Percy to whirl around. Instead of the monster that Percy was expecting, he saw two hikers staring at him in horror. It wasn't hard to imagine why, he was dripping blood after all. Whole he stared at the two hikers, a hellhound leaped onto his back driving him into the ground. He looked up, staring in wonder at the fangs posed above his throat. He wouldn't look away, he wouldn't scream, that he promised himself. Before the hellhound could snap its jaws shut, it was thrown away giving a squeal of pain. Percy looked up in astonishment, every monster had suddenly been consumed by a black fire!
Percy turned towards a brilliant light that appeared out of nowhere. Once he had blinked the glare out of his eyes, Percy saw that a woman stood looking at him with joy. She wasn't very tall, maybe 5 foot 4 inches, but she had an aura that suggested power. Her eyes swirled hypnotically, with a million stars spiraling around and around. Her hair fell in a black wave, reaching the middle of her back. And she had a smile that lit up her whole face, instantly calming Percy.
She walked forward, stopping when she was a few feet from the boy, and said in a beautiful voice, "Hello my child, my name is Chaos".
Percy wasn't the best student, but the name was very familiar. He vaguely recalled her saying something about Chaos being an all powerful deity that had made everything. Now, in Percy's experience any all powerful deity generally wanted to kill him. Percy looked at the woman warily, "What do you want with me?" he asked. He had been running and fighting for his life the last couple of days, you couldn't blame him if he wasn't exactly respectful, not that he ever was anyway.
"No child, I wish to save you. I watched as you have grown into a mighty warrior, but more importantly into a kind man. You have the heart of a leader and the spirit of a warrior, these will aid you greatly. I only ask that you join a group that I am creating. It will be you and four others, together you will save the world. There is a catch however, you will need much experience, more than you currently have. To give this to you, I will send you back to the dawn of time. You will live a thousand lives, and at the end of each life your memories and skills will come to me in my palace, and I will hold those memories until you are ready. One day, you will come to my home, and you will reclaim every memory that is yours and you will be ready. I have enlisted three others to do this as well, they have already agreed. They will join you when the time is right, if you agree. So I ask you, will you become a Horsemen?"
Percy sat in stunned silence, staring at the deity in front of him. What she offered was insane, but it was better than what he had right now. If he didn't say yes he would be hunted down and killed, probably after a lot of torture, but it he said yes then he might have a chance. A chance to make everything right again.
"I will," be said almost to quiet for Chaos to hear, but she did hear it. She gave another brilliant smile, the Horsemen were complete. Now she just had to send him back, oh and make it so he was immortal. Last time she did this and the person wasn't immortal, it got......messy.
"Come here," she ordered the boy, who crawled toward her. She quickly walked over and helped him to stand, letting him lean on her shoulder, "before I can send you back, I need to make you immortal. That is the only way you can survive, do I have your permission?" she glanced over to see him nod, "Great! Just come and stand over here, very good. I'm going to put my thumb on your forehead, you may feel a little dizzy but its perfectly normal," she placed her thumb on his forehead and gently pushed some of her power into him. He instantly froze, tensing all over. Chaos stepped back to see him slowly relaxing, and the glow that always happened when you became immortal appear around his body. There was, however, one difference between him and a normal immortal. She had noticed this on the other three as well, all of their eyes had become a solid color. Percy's had become solid green.
Now came the tricky part, normally this was impossible because the person wasn't strong enough to withstand the pressure, by Chaos knew that Percy, like the others, would be strong enough. Chaos placed her whole hand on Percy's head, and pushed. Instead of falling backwards, Percy flew back through time.
Now she could only watch and wait, and maybe help a little.
