Deku P.O.V
The day after the sport festival Todoroki and I became friends. He hung around with Uraraka, Iida, and I. After a few days Uraraka told Todoroki about my eye. She pleaded with him not to say anything to anyone about it. She explained that it could ruin my chance to be a Hero. I felt bad because Todoroki didnt seem like the kinda of guy that wanted to hide things from people but much to my favor, he agreed to not say a thing. We were always around each other after that. He kinda stuck to me like glue a little bit but it felt nice to be able to be close to someone who lived differently then I did.
A couple more days later people recognized me on the bus and cheered for me a little. It was raining outside which made the air a bit gloomy. I saw Iida running past me and I attempted to keep up. We had also learned that Iidas brother had been attacked by the Hero Killer Stain. We were all worried for him but he insisted that he was fine. In class, Mr. Aizawa came in and told us that we would be picking our Hero names today and we were all excited as Midnight came in and explained how our hero names would be what defined us as Heros. White boards and markers were passed to us. We all became serious as we thought about what are names would be. Some of the names were weird while others made names based off past heros. Kacchan kept picking names that Midnight didnt agree with and Kirishima made fun of him. After being sent back to his desk again I went up and honestly felt out of place. Half of the room, where I knew my classmates were watching me...I couldn't see a thing. It was all black. I was learning to adjust and the thought of dropping out as a hero didnt seem so bad from time to time. I announced that my hero name would be Deku. A name that I had hated since a kid would have a whole new meaning to it. My hand writing was messy due to having had surgery on my hand after the sports festival. With the choosing of our hero names came the time of our internships with professional heros. I thought I would have gone with All Might but I ended up being takin on by Gran Torino who All Might said was his mentor and teacher when he was a student. To be honest I couldn't tell if All Might was scared or excited. Not long after was the attack on Hotsu. This lead to the capture of the hero Killer Stain. Iida had attempted to take revenge on him and in the end, Todoroki and I got involved. Todoroki got away without any serious injuries while Iida and I weren't so lucky.
When the internships were over, we all returned to school with our new found experiences. I managed to have better control over my movements which was pretty difficult considering I couldn't see for the most part. I was learning the hard way that being blind in my right eye was harder then I thought it was going to be but I aimed to make it work anyway. No one else could know about me and I honestly felt that even my three closest friends knowing was too many people. I suspected that Kacchan could tell something was off but I would never know for sure since I started avoiding him again. I could still sometimes feel his lips on mine whenever I was at home laying in bed. When sleep would wash over me and hold me close I imagined it was Kacchans weight pressed against my body. It felt weird to think that way while I did something completely different but I wasnt sure how to face him. I was lying to a lot of people and with final exams coming up this made it harder. What was I going to do if someone found out about me? What was going to do if I failed? What could I do? Was there anything I could do at all in this situation or was I trapped? I wanted to ask All Might for help but there was no way I could ask and him not find out that I was blind. Even my own mother didn't know and I was already lying to her about my quirk. I was living this huge false life and it was my fault. All I needed to do at the moment was focus on the upcoming exams.
We all studied for written final exams and wondered what the practical exam would consist of but that's all we could do. We trained and worked hard to make sure that we were ready for whatever they threw at us. Some of my classmates met at Momos house to study while a lot of them studied and trained on their own. When the day of the exams finally arrived we were surprised to see a lot of the main stream heros awaiting us at the battle training field when it came time for practicals. One by one they announced what groups of students would be fighting what teacher so it came as an even bigger surprise when it was announced that Kacchan and I would he facing All Might for our test. They have to be kidding. Me? With Kacchan...no no no!
I glanced over at the blond haired boy and watched him look away from the teachers and glare at his feet. This was going to be a big problem.(Hey everyone, I'm sorry for a late and short update. Some horrible stuff has been happening and I'm struggling a lot to deal with it and trying to support my family through the same thing. I promise that I'll post a longer update or maybe even update this chapter as I find time. I'll do one of the two but I'm not sure yet. I really am sorry y'all")
