Outer-space. There are hardly any tributes left. The Games are coming to an end. I look at Megan. She realizes this too.
"What now?" She asks. I toss the dagger in the air, catching it before it hits the ground.
"We kill." I reply. She pulls out her bow and fits an arrow in perfectly.
Suddenly, I feel a slight rumbling beneath me. A few feet away the ground begins to crack and fall away. I grab Megan's arm and we fling onto the hedge, holding on with all our strength. As the ground disappears, the hedges stay on...I look under the hedge....nothing.
Wind begins to rush around me as the hedge moves closer towards the top of the arena. Faster and faster as if it is trying to break through. As it speeds up, I realize, it is. The hedge is going to penetrate the arena. I look at Megan and see a green tint on her features and I let out a low chuckle. She glares at me with her dark, chocolate eyes. I hope we make it.
The hedge bursts through the top of the arena and I immediately feel suffocated. I can breath. Somehow. But my throat feels tighter. I force the air down and look around at my surroundings. My eyes widen and chills climb the ladder of my spine.
The hedge begins to float aimlessly around the shadowy darkness. I notice a big, metal platform in the distance, which is gradually coming closer as the hedge moves slowly towards it.After what seemed like hours, and in space time does not exist, Megan and I jump on the metal platform. We were not alone for long. Trisha hops off her ride and takes in her surroundings. Her eyes sweep the area, until landing on us. She pulls out a knife and wastes no time in chucking it at my head. I dodged it easily, and pull out my dagger. I turn it in my hands and move closer to her. She backs away. I guess not predicting the miss. Her eyes dart towards the knife which is laying lifelessly on the platform. She smirks before somersaulting over my head and landing gracefully. She ran to the knife and scooped it up in her hand.
Damn it.
She lungs towards me and I look to Megan. She is fighting off the District 2 male, Kayleb. I dodge her second attack and leap from her path. She growls and our weapons met. Sweat rolls off her forward and I know I had the dreadful advantage. I kick her gut and she collapses onto her knees. I plunge the knife into her heart, and she dies instantly. I turn around and see Megan losing. She has a wide gash on her arm and I sigh. I throw the knife at Kayleb's head and he falls to the floor, limbs splattering on the metal surface.
Megan turns away and comes towards me.
"Two down." She says.
"Two to go." Silence lingers between us.
"Can we do it?" She asks softly. I gulp.
"Yes." I face her. "Yes, we can." She smiles and I smile. And for once in our messed up lives, we actually believe.VOTE ON THIS CHAPTER IF YOU WANT ERIC TO BE ONE OF THE TWO WHO WIN! YOU CAN VOTE FOR AS MANY OR AS FEW PEOPLE AS YOU WANT!
