Ellie's POV

I looked up at the sky to see that Yuki, Dustin and Winston died. Poor Yuki, I liked her. Dustin I'd killed myself, so that wasn't such an issue. Winston, well, WHAT?! As I looked up once more, I could see his face fading away. Why did all my allies have to die? And then I made a decision. I'm going solo. As I started to walk, all the hedges started to shake and crumble and fall apart. First I thought of an earthquake, but I then saw that nothing else was shaking. I questioned the reason of it, but I soon would find out. Right in front of my eyes, a gigantic racing track revealed. I opened my mouth, trying to say something, and closed it again, not being able to do so. At the end I saw a bright doorway. I started to walk to it, but with every step I took, the doorway only went farther. I had no idea what to do. And then I saw him. Dave.

'Ellie, little sis, you have to listen to me. At your right hand, you'll see pit stops. Ask the men standing by them for a car. If they won't give it, search for another car. Every car has a number on it, search for number 9. With the car you can drive to the doorway' he said. I stood there in shock, not understanding what happened. 'What?! Dave, what's going on?' I asked. He looked at me, with a smile. 'I know you can survive, El. I love you' then he disappeared. I stood there, as if my feet where glued to the floor. And then I knew what to do. I ran to the right to see the pit stops were Dave had been talking about. And I saw the driver standing next to it. 'Can I drive this car?' I asked them. The man shook his head. I then looked at the car, and saw that the Capitol emblem was painted on it. It was the car for Drako or Becka.

I scanned the area, looking for a car with the number 9 on it. And then I saw it. It was almost in the precise middle of the row. The car itself was black. Not that I really cared. I ran to the driver who stood next to it and asked if I could drive the car. He nodded and gave me the keys. As I wanted to open the door, I heard Sprink and Drako settling in the car from District 8, Sprink's car. 'Put your seatbelt on!' I heard Drako say. 'No, that'll cut my arms!' Sprink said with a audible pout. I had to smile a bit, before opening the door. While I had been listening, more tributes had been walking to their car. And then I saw it from the corner of my eye. Sprink lost his District token.

Drako started to drive, and I ran to the empty spot and picked up the bracelet made from fabrics. I ran to my car, jumped in since the door was already open and put the keys in it and turned them to start the engine. I'd been on a tractor once back home, so I kind of knew what to do. As I took off, I had one goal. To get to the doorway as fast as possible. I started to race hard. And when I say hard, I mean very hard. Halfway the track, I saw the car from Drako and Sprink. I could hear Sprink yell. 'DRAKO! STOP THE CAR! I LOST MY TOKEN!' they immediately stopped and jumped out of the car. I could see in the mirror that Becka was close behind me, ready to get to the doorway first. I looked at the little boy and at the door, and made a decision.

I stepped on the brake pedal and stopped the car just behind the one from Drako and Sprink. I jumped out, and walked over to Sprink. He looked up, and I saw fear in his eyes. I saw that he wanted to yell for Drako, since Drako was searching somewhere else. 'Hsssss' I said while I put my finger to my lips. Then, I got the token out of my pocket, and put it in Sprink's hands. Then, I folded them around the token. I put another finger to my lips, and walked back to my car again. 'Thank you' I heard him say. 'You're welcome' I said, while I started to drive again. I could then hear him call for Drako to say that he had his token back.

Thanks to the bracelet returning, I'd become last. And I didn't care. I started to drive to the doorway, hoping I would survive another day, wondering about the fact that I'd seen Dave. Just one second before I passed the doorway, I swore I saw him, smiling at me. I then knew I'd made the right decision.
