As soon as the car drove through the portal, I recognized the place we were in. The Capitol. I smiled, and dragged Sprink, Jamie, and Mazz behind me until I found who I was looking for. Sycamore.
"Listen," I started. "I'm REALLY sorry for killing Yuki, I didn't realize she was your only guide through these games. If you want, I'll take you under my wing as well."
"I'm starting to catch on to the games," he said "and there's ONE thing I learned, which is to never trust you. So why would I?"
"Because I haven't betrayed Sprink yet, and I'm not planning on it." He nodded his head and followed me as well, and we maneuvered down the streets of the Capitol, which were all eerily empty. Maybe all the citizens were watching the Games on their television. Everything was going great, until I passed my houes. My mom came running outside yelling at me. "Drako" To think we were proud of you making it this far... Only to see you still wandering with that... That... That freak! I guess you're just no better, huh?"
I took it in stoically, pretending not to care, and focusing on my mission. To get to the mansion. Obviously Jamie and Sprink had noticed the silent tear running down my face, because they both ran up to me. "It's going to be okay, big bro, we'll still have each other no matter what." I couldn't help but think that if everything went the way I planned, we wouldn't have each other at all.
"Baby, once you win the games, your mom won't care about us. She'll just care about having her little victor in her house to make all her friends jealous. Everything's going to be fine." Jamie added, kissing my tears.
Jamie.Sprink. All I had to do was think about them and all my resolve disappeared. But that was why I had to do this, wasn't it? So they wouldn't have to be put in such danger ever again?
I walked towards the mansion, slowly but surely, until it was time to enter. "Sycamore, Sprink, I have to do this alone." I hugged them both. "You guys better win for me ok?"
"Wait," Sprink said. "What do you mean win for you? I thought we were going to win together!"
"There's something I have to do and I might not come back." I then turned to Jamie. "Take care of them for me, ok? I love you, and make sure you always remember that."
I walked into the mansion, carefully naviguated the hallways I'd studied all my life, until I found THE room. I entered, and wrapped my whip around the man's head, slowly suffocating him, the man who had exiled my father.
A few minutes later, I heard the sirens approaching as the realization of what I'd just done flew over me. I'd killed President Snow.
As the Peacekeepers took me away, I couldn't help but hope that Sycamore and Sprink were doing good on their own.
