Reflection.

Who is he that stands in the corner, away from everybody?

Just standing there as he watches all the people in front of him enjoy themselves.
Seeing their smiles filled with joy and happiness, while his face always wears a frown.
Who is he that hides his face?

Making a well-constructed mask to wear all the time, always having a fake smile.
People see the mask and always assume that nothing is wrong, that everything is OK, that the smile on his face reflects how he really feels.
They don't know of the sadness he feels, the crushing loneliness he has every day of his life. The tears will never be seen, for no one cares to look at what is beneath the mask.

Who is he that walks away?
He tries to reach out to people, to get help and take his mask off and let people see who he really is.
But he pulls back his hand at the same time, saying that they'll never care, they'll never listen to you.

Once they are done helping you, they'll throw you aside and never think twice about looking back.
So, he doesn't try at all and just turning away from them, walking away, pretending that nothing has happened while tears stream down his face behind his mask.

Who is he that never talks?
He tries to speak to people, to try and be friendly but only to be ignored. Trying very hard to socialize for once in his life, to not be alone anymore but only to fail.
His voice drowned out by the laughter and joy of others, to have his attempts be laughed upon for trying at all.
So he keeps quiet and never talks with anyone, for who will care to listen to one that wears a mask every day, to hide who he really is.

Who is he that lies? Lying to the people that come ask what is wrong, for only to say he is alright.
To lie that his mask is his face, so no one will ever see the person that lies beneath.
To lie to himself every day, that everything is alright, that he will be smiling today, but only for his mask to smile for him.
To wear a sad frown on his face every day, knowing that he will never feel happy.
Knowing that the lie he tells himself will be repeated again and again and again for the rest of his life.

Who is he that is all this, for he is nothing but a reflection.
A reflection staring back at you that reminds you of who you really are.
A reminder that you are alone in the world, that you have no one to talk to or be with.
That you are the reason for why you are like this, that this is all your fault.

Who is he?

He is me, and I am a reflection of loneliness.
