USTULATION; CHAPTER FOURTY-ONE

NICO WAS UNABLE TO PREVENT the smile that was slowly taking over his face from doing so. He had both Magnus and Alec as boyfriends, and he was still surprised about finding some happiness in his life, but somehow he knew it wouldn't last.

He held onto Alec's hand as tight as he was able to without causing any distress to the shadowhunter. Nico had blanked out the entire conversation Alec had with his parents, since he didn't respect either of the Lightwood couple. He had just stood back with Magnus, whilst Alec conversed.

However, when the older Lightwood couple left, Lucifer decided to pop in for a visit, since he appeared right behind Alec. Nico smirked at the devil, who returned it but gestured him to come closer. He did so, letting go of Alec's hand, who turned and raised an eyebrow at the new arrival.

Lucifer leaned closer to Nico, "we have to talk." Nico nodded in agreement. "I've been informed of a prophecy that may involve your child."

Nico raised an eyebrow, "what about my child? What does this prophecy say?"

Alec raised his hands, "wait a minute! Nic, you have a child? Since when? Why didn't you tell me? Does Magnus know?"

Magnus took Alec's hand, "I only found out because he told me when he was drunk the other day. The rest of it should be spoken by Nicholas, not me."

The two looked at the blond, who glanced back at Lucifer before speaking, "Ava's pregnant with my child. God, I knew I should have gotten drunk earlier. That would have helped so much. Luce, could you just explain the prophecy now?"

Lucifer only smirked, as Alec registered his words. "Nic, when did this happen?" Alec ran a hand through his hair. "Was it my fault?"

Nico shook his head, grasping Alec's hand once more, "I slept with her whilst drunk after the memory demon, my actions made me feel like shit so it happened. Nothing will change how that night went down. It wasn't your fault, it couldn't have been." He then turned to Lucifer, "now tell me what that prophecy foretold."

Lucifer glanced at Magnus and Alec, "I'm not sure it's wise to disclose such a secret to those not aware of all the aspects."

Nico sighed, "anything you wanna tell me, you can say right here." Lucifer sighed, taking Nico's hand and squeezed tight enough to break the bones in his hand, forcing Nico to drop Alec's hand as he winced in pain. Lucifer snapped, disappearing and then appearing back in the throne room of hell.

As soon as the devil dropped his hand, Nico clutched it to his chest, holding in a wince as the pain grew. Lucifer ignored this in favour of reciting the prophecy, "and a half-shadow boy shall be born of angel and demon. And in a mockery of the Nazarene, he shall perform Satanic miracles and profane acts."
