"God the things I would do to him if he were mine!" Lucy muttered to Cleo while drooling over Flynn.

"Ew Lucy. I didn't need to hear that, but if you ever get him, help me with Derek." Cleo responded.

"You should just go for him. But not too fast. But not slow either. Find the perfect speed." Lucy rambled.

"Real helpful," Lucy sighed "so when are you gonna go for it? Never?"

"You know how I am 'bout relationships, Cleo!" Lucy started, "I need to figure out everything first and so far I know nothing. Besides him looking like a damn snack!" She bit her lip while staring at Flynn from across the lunchroom.

Cleo laughed at her best friend's antics and returned to her homework. It was due for the next class and she had exactly 2 minutes and 34 seconds to do it. She was not going to get an F... again. She scribbled the next answer when suddenly someone hit her from behind. Cleo's pencil snapped and she landed face first into Lucy's salad.

"What the fuck!" Cleo stood up next to her friend and faced the asshole that slammed into her. Cleo was furious and couldn't see who had been so careless due to the salad dressing in her eyes.

"Shit, sorry." A voice replied.

"Sorry, my ass! Why'd you slam into her!" Lucy snapped.

Cleo wasn't sure why Lucy got so defensive, but she appreciated it.

"I can't see who you are, but when I come back I'm gonna kick your ass," Cleo said as she stumbled over to get a napkin. She wiped her eyes and turned to Lucy who had walked over. with her.

"What an assho- SHIT. DID DEREK DO THAT!" Cleo looked over to her table and saw Derek standing there flustered.

"Yeah what a jerk. You should get over him and move on to less of a jerk. Lucy responded glaring at him.

"No way. I just feel bad for yelling, he probably fell on accident. Plus I know you're just saying that because he's a junior and you think that's weird." Cleo said

"You still gonna kick his ass? Or kiss it?" Lucy laughed.

"Oh, kiss it, definitely." Cleo joked back.

The girls walked back over to their table where Derek and his friends waited. Cleo stopped right in front of Derek as Lucy stood right behind her, glaring at the boys.

"Listen, I'm sorry for yelling, but why'd you slam into me?" Cleo asked calmly.

"Sorry, I was messing around with the guys. I didn't mean any harm, honest." Cleo shot an 'I told you' look at Lucy before responding with, "Ok, you're good."

The boys left satisfied as the girls sat back down.

"You're blushing really hard," Lucy said while munching on her salad.

"What?" Cleo grabbed her phone panicked and looked at herself in the camera. "Shit I am. Was I the whole time? I thought I looked intimidating!"

"Yeah about as intimidating as my 4-year-old brother!" Lucy laughed "and yes, you blushed the whole time, but I don't think Derek noticed."

"Phew," Cleo breathed in relief briefly before realizing that her homework was still not done. "Ugh, I'm going to get another F!"

"Relax you still have ti-" Lucy was interrupted by the bell, "Haha, you're screwed. See ya!"

"Bye Lucy." Cleo sighed

3 o'clock hits and hundreds of high schoolers are rushing out the doors to freedom. Cleo meets up with Lucy at the front parking lot.

"Wanna go to the game tonight? Flynn's brother can drive us." Lucy asks.

"I don't know. It's not really my thing." Cleo shrugged.

"Derek will be there," Lucy mumbled loud enough for Cleo to hear.

"I'm in!" Cleo jumped.

At the high school football game, Cleo sat uncomfortably next to her friend and Flynn's friend. She was unsure of what to do or say. She barely understood football and wasn't even sure which side was her school's side. All she could do was look for Derek . She looked every direction and even down at the field, but she couldn't see him.

"Lucy where is Dere-" Cleo looked over to find Lucy's tongue down Flynn's throat. "Nevermind."

Cleo got up and walked off the bleachers. She was almost to the car when she looked over to see Derek, but he wasn't alone. He was by his car with some girl. His tongue down her throat. Cleo dropped her bag and ran off to the woods next to the bleachers. She stopped at a tree and started to cry. Her tears stung her skin as they trickled down her face and off her chin. Her heart was pounding and she felt like it was about to burst. Meanwhile, Derek was starting to get annoyed.

"Babe why is your phone going off like crazy?" He asked his girlfriend.

"It's nothing." She replied and continued to kiss him.

He pulled away and grabbed her phone from her back pocket. He opened the phone and went straight to messages.

"What the fuck? Who's Justin and why are you seeing him after the game?" Derek asked.

"You bore me babe. I needed something more. Sorry." The now ex-girlfriend respond completely lacking sympathy.

"Fuck you." Derek stormed off into the woods. "I can't believe that she would cheat on me after all this time. Ugh!" Derek hit a tree.

"Huh? What was that?" Cleo turned to see Derek punching a tree 15 feet away. She got up and wiped her eyes to say "What are you doing?"

"Nothing. How 'bout you?" He huffed back.

"Nothing." Cleo lied. "What are you really doing?"

"Being mad," Derek confessed. "how 'bout you? What are you really doing?"

"Being sad," Cleo confessed. "what happened?" Cleo sat down at the tree Derek had punched. He plopped down next to her and began to tell her about what he found and what his former girlfriend told him.

"I guess the fire died a while ago anyway. I just can't seem to get a girl who's real. Ya know? Derek finished. "So, why are you sad?"

"Uhm, it's stupid. I'm sorry that she did that to you." Cleo really wanted to confess that she saw him kissing his girlfriend and wanted him more than anything, but she just couldn't spit it out.

"Ok. I'll see you around. Thanks for listening." Derek got up and walked back to the parking lot.

"No problem," Cleo mumbled while she watched the very person she wanted more than anything walk away.
