CHAPTER 14
Be honest, did I surprise you when I suddenly visited you in the music room?
The sound of the door creaking open could be heard by Ben, who was just sitting down, hugging his knees. He slowly lifted his head up and was about to scold whoever it was, for disturbing his alone time but then was greeted by another face instead.
"Excuse m—Eugene? What are you doing here? Don't you have class?"
"Actually...I'm here to see you. I knew you would be here. And so, I skipped class, duh," The girl answered calmly.
"What?? You? Skipped class? Don't you have math right now? What if you get bad scores later?"
"Jeez, calm down. Besides, how do you know I have math now?"
"U-uh...I just guessed..?"
"Makes sense, okay. But don't worry, I'm not worried about chemistry. I'm worried about you."
Was I too bold? Well, I learned it from you.
"Me? What? Why? Huh?" Ben was caught off guard by her statement.
He himself couldn't believe that this girl had such a big impact on him. It seems, he had fallen in love too deep.
"It's just that I can't accept how you intentionally ignore me."
"I told you already. I don't want you to get involved in my mess."
"What if I'm willing to get involved?"
"I'm a rebel, Eugene. I get into troubles. I'm the school's bad boy for a reason! You, a normal student, have a reputation and I don't want to ruin it."
"If you are the so-called school's bad boy, you wouldn't even care about me. So, why do you care about me so much?"
Ben was taken aback by what she said. This girl. She's really different.
"Because I don- I don't know. You're quite something, you know? Weird but you make me...feel different. You make me want to protect you."
This time, it was Eugene's turn to freeze at his words.
