12:10 am
August

I walked up the pathway and unlocked the door.

There she was on the sofa.

She looked over at me and I locked the door behind me.

"What happened?" She asked and I shook my head tossing my keys on the table.

She stood up as I walked into my studio room.

She looked up at the high ceiling as I sat on the sofa across from the booth.

"August." She called, turning her attention back to me and I looked down at my phone.

I scrolled through Instagram and liked a few comments on my recent post.

"Hello?" She asked with an attitude.

I chuckled at one of the replies before responding.

She sighed heavily and threw her hair into a messy bun.

She pressed a notch on the keyboard and walked into the booth. She placed the headphones on and closed her eyes.

Why you got me so obsessed with you?
Why you got me wasting time laying next to you?
Why do you tell me, "come over, " to watch you just stare at your phone?
Don't know why I expected you
To give me attention, affection and love
You're like a drug, never enough
Can't take you high, need a new plug
You got me bent, got me way too messed up

She sang softly as she stared at me. I sighed and she shrugged before opening the door and walking out of the room.

"Stop." I said as I grabbed her arm.

She turned around and I could feel her pain radiating onto me.

"I'm sorry." I said and she pulled her arm away from me.

I released my grip and she shrugged again.

"Okay." She said simply.

"I know yuh haven't been fully hea' lately. I get it. But, I'm not yuh enemy ma." I said and she folded her arms.

"Where did you go?" She asked and I looked at her.

She smacked her lips and walked out of the room.

"Zaia stop walking away." I said following after her and she groaned turning around.

"I don't wanna hear some stupid lie you came up with. Whatever girl you were with.." She said rolling her eyes.

I chuckled and shook my head.

These mood swings man.

"I keep telling yuh I'm not like dat." I said and she sighed heavily.

"Yeah that's what they all say." She said irreverently before looking down.

"Zai, I talked ta him." I said bluntly and she looked up at me.
