I carefully tear the piece of paper out of my notebook and place it on the dressing table next to my bedroom door. This Summer is supposed to one of the best, everyones parents love reminiscing over this specific time in their lives. But no, I'm swapping my Summer for a Winter. It's kind of hard to find the positives when I'm leaving my friends and everything I've ever known behind, but writing that note has made me realise that I have such an amazing opportunity ahead.

"Nav, you ready?" My mum watches me close my bedroom door and gives me an encouraging smile.

"Very ready." I reply as I spot her 3 suitcases. Obviously she had better luck choosing what clothes to take.

"Let's go" We say in unison, and make our way to the door.

After 24 excruciating hours travelling it is safe to say I am absolutely drained. The connecting flight from Singapore to Sydney was what nightmare are made of. I couldn't sleep at all because I had been living off of caffeine pretty much that entire day.

Will and one of his friends picked us up from the airport about an hour ago. Apparently Wills old friend is out of the country for the Winter months so we are staying in the house 'just outside of Sydney' according to his friend, who I now found out is called Mark. We have very different opinions on what 'just outside' means.

The 12pm sun beams in through the car window, bouncing off the tiny diamonds that line my favourite rose gold bracelet, casting an array of lights to scatter throughout the interior of the sleek black Range Rover. My mum hasn't opened an eyelid since we both slumped into the back seats and I don't blame her.

The area we're surrounded by is so gorgeous; big exotic houses, pools, lush greenery  and a couple of beaches thrown into the mix. I don't think I've ever seen anything more perfect.

Before I have time to fully take in my surroundings Mark takes a left and slowly climbs an incline into a more secluded area. Big clusters of trees and foliage break every now and then, revealing a far away city across a large body of water.

The car starts to slow down, focussing my already dazed attention to a well kept gated driveway.

"We're home!" Will exclaims, making my mum jump out of her slumber. I begin to examine past the tall gates and immediately become overwhelmed by the luxury of this house.

"You're joking, right?" I say in a slightly concerned voice, turning toward Will.

"If this is a joke, then I'm the clown making it happen" Will returns, and begins to laugh along with his friend.

"These are the keys" the gleaming metal shines in front of my face, and I take them from his grasp, "Go wild kid."

I hop out of the car, more like fall, forgetting the height of it, and make my way over to the gates. I must've looked confused because Mark shouts over and says, "just tap it", followed by a quick gesture towards a little black box. I do as he says and watch as the gates slide open.

This is too much

Will and Mark take care of our luggage while my mum and I head inside our new temporary home. We're immediately welcomed by a light airy living space, lined with floor to ceiling windows in space of two adjoining walls. To the right there is a staircase leading to the second floor, so I begin to scale the steps. Before I get to the top Mark and Will enter through the door.

"Navi turn left at the top. The door at the end is the first guest bedroom." Will smiles "oh, and don't forget your suitcase." He says while stepping forward and passing it to me while I stand and yawn.

"You're gonna need to sleep before everyone gets here for the party" Mark adds in his aussie accent I'm still not quite used to. I assume that he's joking and proceed into the guest bedroom, not really paying attention to what is going on as I change into some shorts and a t-shirt. I pull back the white sheets and my body immediately gives up. I pass out within a split second.
