"I told you, you can't be seeing anyone!" My mom shouted as I was well aware that my dad and sister were probably asleep. The last thing I want is to have the whole family yelling at me. "You know what will happen, you see a whore like that in bed with another man your heart will be broken."
"She is not a whore." I stopped myself from yelling.
"She is! That's what peasant girls are." She scoffed, "why can't you be with someone like Jennifer?"
"Because Jennifer is not my type!" I finally shouted. She paused in silence for a moment.
"Type or not, you will not be seeing that girl again."
"But she keeps me sane." I blurted out. "I can't live without knowing she's safe." My mother scoffed at the idea.
"Jennifer is coming over today. Like her or not you will have a smile on your face."
"Mother—"
"Aaron! I don't want to hear it." She walked out the door, "go get dressed." My face turned hot, I felt like I wanted to scream. My fist drives through a wall, creating a large dent. I hate this, why can't I just be with her? I felt my eyes burning up as I looked into the mirror to see my eyes a crimson red. No matter what I do, they will forever treat me like a monster.
Later
It was about seven PM and unfortunately, I had to listen to my parents. I got dressed as I waited in the dinning room with my sister. Her face a bit saddened, she turned to me, but then looked away. I of course, was still angers by the situation.
I heard the grand doors slam open as I saw my parents and a girl with bleach blonde hair walk into the room. Her dress was a dark blue, layered with other colors. Her hair curled and draped over her shoulders. The thing is, she wasn't Aphmau. She walked up to me and smile, and held out her hand. She really thinks I'm about to kiss her hand? I stared at her, my eyebrows scrunched. My parents looked furious, but didn't say anything. The key to having guest over. Her face white with embarrassment.
"How about we sit down?" My dad addressed. Throughout dinner she talked on and on, I just tried my best not to storm off. Jennifer kept eyeing me the whole time, I stared right back. She grinned as I glanced down at my plate, shuffling the food around.
"Aaron," she spoke, "What are your hobbies?" Everyone stared at me as I continued to stare at my plate, silence. My father cleared his throat as I slowly brought my attention up to him.
"Archery." I said, "anything to do with fighting."
"Oh, like jousting?" I chuckled to myself.
"Something more rougher than that." Jennifer blushed. "If you'll excuse me." I stared at my father waiting for him to respond as he scoffed and swooshed his hand.
I went to the bathroom, to try and calm myself down. This isn't the first time my parents tried to force me with someone. This has happened multiple times in the past, it's aggravating.
While I was washing up, my looked out the window to see, snow. Children laughing and running around as the soft white powder littered throughout the town. I hadn't realized it was getting chilly, it is November after all. That reminds me—Aphmau. I can take this opportunity to leave right now.
I just need to play it safe.
Aphmau's POV
This snow came out of nowhere and it seems to be piling up more and more. It wasn't so long ago I was outside in short sleeves, with Aaron. It's a shame he's king now. We're more, separate.
I huddled by the fire, wrapped in layers of blankets and clothes. The fire slowly burning out. I looked at the windows that were half way filled with snow. I solemnly stared outside until a knock at the door was made. I jolted up and opened the door. There he was. Aaron. "Sorry, my love." The cold air swung into the house as he pulled me into his arms. I squeezed back and buried my face into his chest
"How did you get here so fast?" I looked behind him to see no horse.
"You should have seen me I was bolting." He chuckled. The gust of the wind blew the last bit of fire out. Aaron immediately closed the door as the house was dark and cold. I held myself and shivered as Aaron ripped off his jacket, laying it over me and setting me down by the once lit fireplace.
"I'm sorry." He spoke softly as I cuddled up next to him.
"It's fine, I understand." I smiled as Aaron's face was still stiff.
"No, Aphmau I—" he paused as his voice got lower, "I want to be with you, all the time, every season, every day." He moved my hair out of my face, "I love you, did you know that?"
I chuckled, "Yes Aaron. But, your a king, you can't—"
"I can resign." He responded rather quickly.
"Aaron no, you can't do that, there are people who need a leader."
"Aphmau I don't care, I can't leave you anymore—the back and forth, it's driving me crazy." He placed his hand on my cheek, "my father is forcing me to marry someone." My eyes widened.
"you-you're getting married?"
"I don't love her trust me. That's why I'm telling you that I want to be with you." Aaron looked around
Let's run away
