Trying to Fix You

Chapter 10 {July 23, 2009}

Jeremy's rushing to the hospital with the heat on full blast while Noah sits in the back with Madyson. Noah has his arms around her, holding her tight as he tries his best to warm her.

She looks up at him and speaks with chattering teeth. "You're r-really w-warm." She smirks up at him, trying to lighten the mood.

"Yeah, and you're not."

Jeremy looks back at her through his rear view mirror. "You were real stupid tonight, you know that?"

She turns her head giving him a slight glare. "And you're a real jerk, you know that?"

Noah rolls his eyes at their familiar antics and interrupts their bickering. "Children!"

She looks at Noah with a small smile and glances over her shoulder to see Jeremy smirking at her through the rear view mirror.

Noah looks down at her with serious and concerned eyes. "Why didn't you tell anyone you were freezing?"

She begins speaking quickly with high sarcasm. "Oh, I'm sorry, I thought the shivering and teeth chattering made that perfectly clear. But knowing you two, I guess I would need a great big neon sign and some chocolate chip cookies!"

Jeremy smirks at her sarcasm and Noah can't help but laugh. Madyson quickly slaps him in the arm while trying to hide a smirk. "It's not funny. Why are you laughing?"

Noah smiles down at her and speaks with a soft and sincere voice. "Because...it's good to see you again." He was glad to see her laughing again, it was like finally seeing the Madyson he had been missing for so long.

She stares at him in confusion for a second before realizing what he meant. She looks away and breaks into uncontrollable convulsions as she begins to close her eyes.

Noah wraps his arms around her tighter, trying to stop her from shaking. "Mady?"

The shaking slowly begins to stop as she closes her eyes.

He puts a hand on the side of her face and turns her head to look at her face with panic. "Madyson!"

She continued to fade deeper into the darkness. 

The last thing she felt was Jeremy's strong arms lifting her from the car before she slipped away.

~ JULY 23,  2009 ~

Lucas groans from his position on the living room couch and scowls at his sister. "Mady, I don't want to go to that stupid party!"

"Come on! I need you to take me, please." She whines and gives him the cutest puppy dog face she can muster up.

"Mads, I need to do homework tonight."

"Luke, I need a break. You know things aren't that great between me and Noah right now. Please do this for me."

He sighs and finally gives in, he seemed to be getting worse about saying no to her the older they got. "Alright, but we're not staying long."

She jumps up from the couch and wraps her arms tightly around her brother. "Thank you, thank you!" She quickly turns and runs up the stairs to get dressed.

He rolls his eyes and goes back to watching tv. "Yeah, yeah, just hurry up."

Madyson skips up the stairs to her bedroom and comes back down about an hour later wearing a tight short black dress with black pumps. Lucas looks back at the stairs to see his baby sister wearing what he considers an inappropriate outfit and a shocked expression appears across his face. "What the hell are you wearing?!"
