It was three in the morning and sleep had yet to come and take Madyson away from the horrible pain of yesterday. She thought that just maybe she was starting to move forward but it seemed that every time she got close something just came along and forced misery upon her once again. She decided to take a walk, hoping the fresh morning air would clear her head and hopefully help her pain to subside. She made sure to put on a long sleeve shirt to cover up the black and blue hand print now formed across her wrist. It was just another part of her pain only, instead of heartache, it was something visible and, just like the pain in her heart, she made sure to hide it. The last thing she needed was another visible mark of her pain so she made sure to leave a note on the kitchen counter explaining that she left for school early. She quietly closed the front door behind her and began walking along the sidewalk in a daze as the stars shined above her. She was exhausted, she could feel the shakiness in her legs as she tried to walk but she knew there was no use in trying to sleep. She had thoughts flying through her head, a heart full of pain, regret and the intense fear that she may honestly be in serious danger in her own home.
She had been walking for what seemed like hours when traces of the sun began shining over the local park around her. She hadn't seen a single person until she walked by the north end of the park. It was close to six in the morning and she noticed four guys standing under the park bridge, holding what she could only assume were bottles of cheap beer. They were laughing boisterously at something the she assumed was completely lacking in humor while staggering around, having the hardest time just standing on their own two feet. Even if these guys hadn't been holding bottles of beer, it would still be painfully obvious they had been drinking. She tried her best to walk by without being noticed but drunk or not, they were still fairly observant. They began to slowly follow behind her while staggering a bit as a few of them began talking to her.
"Hey hunny, what are you doing out here so...early?" He smirks while swinging around the bottle of beer and follows after a little faster.
The second guy gets a glimpse of her face and squints his eyes. "Designated Madyson? Is that you?"
Madyson takes in a deep breath as she recognizes one of the voices behind her. It was Cody Martin, he was on the football team with Noah and he was normally a real jerk but she didn't realize he was this messed up. She knew she shouldn't stop, she needed to keep moving. She needed to find people, witnesses.
The first guy looks back over at Cody with confusion. "Designated Madyson?" He snickers at the cruel nickname. "You know this hottie?"
Cody smirks and continues following behind her along with his friends. "She goes to my school, she killed her brother."
The first guy smirks as if this was the most attractive thing in the world. "Oooh, a convict...nice."
Cody shakes his head. "Involuntary manslaughter. She drank a little too much...truck driver ran a red light and...bye, bye brother."
The first guy shakes his head with a satisfied smirk. "Well, aren't you the lucky little bitch."
Madyson lowers her head and quickly picks up speed. These guys weren't just creeps, they were seriously messed up. She couldn't believe that there were real guys that hung around the park at 6 in the morning, just waiting for girls to pass by.
The first guy yells after her. "Hey! Wait up! We just wanna have a little fun." He snickers sadistically and picks up speed, chasing after her along with the others.
She glances back while running faster and faster with every second. Her heart starts pounding uncontrollably when she sees all four of those creeps chasing after her. She didn't know what to do, she was still a good hour from the school and there were no people in sight. She needed to get somewhere safe and there was only one place close enough. She ran for about five more minutes, jumping fences and pushing down garbage cans when she eventually came to the place she was running to...the one person she knew would be there to save her.
