She woke up to sun shining through her hospital window and it was like she couldn't get enough of the heat from the window to warm my body. She slowly turned her head to see Noah sleeping on the couch at the other end of her room. She stared at him for a few moments with a small smile on her face. It was nice seeing him so peaceful, she hadn't seen him that way in a long time. Noah moves a little on the couch as he slowly begins to wake up. He opens his eyes to see Madyson starring at him from her hospital bed. "Morning." He smiles at her for a minute before getting up and walking over to her.
"Morning. You stayed here all night?"
He nods and continues looking down at her with a smile.
"I didn't think the couches here were that comfortable." She glances over at the couch then back at him with a smirk.
He rubs the back of his neck with a pained look on his face. "They're not, believe me."
"You didn't have to-"
"-I know." He interrupts her and shows a sweet smile before his face suddenly turns serious. "Do you know what today is?"
She thinks a second before answering. It had been a rough couple of days and keeping track of the exact day wasn't really a priority for her. "November 25, 2010."
Noah smiles in relief and moves a strand of hair from Madyson's eye. She shows a small unsure smile up at him before crossing her arms and moving her hands up and down, trying to transfer some heat. "It's a little cold."
He quickly reaches for the blanket lying at the bottom of her bed and lays it over her. "Better?"
She smiles up at him in appreciation. "Much. Thank you. Do you know what the doctors said?"
"Hypothermia. They said you're responding to treatment really well so you might be able to leave by tonight."
She chuckles lightly and glances down at the blanket across her stomach. "Who knew rain could give you hypothermia, huh?"
He smiles down at her and a look of complete bliss takes over his face. She remembered; and he had to believe that meant something. "March 6th."
She turns her head quickly to look up at him with a slightly shocked expression. "You remembered."
~ March 6, 2007 ~
Noah smirks up at her window before bending down to pick up a few small rocks and gently pelting them up at the window. He whispers quietly, so he doesn't wake her brother or her parents. "Mady."
She groans and sluggishly slings her legs over the side of her bed and walks to her window, opening it. She looks down just as he was about to throw another rock. "Noah? What are you doing?" She is slightly angry at him for waking her up but curious to know why he's tossing rocks at her window.
Noah looks up at her with a goofy grin. "Come on, I want to show you something."
Madyson gives him a look of exhaustion and slight irritation. "Go home, Noah. I'm tired."
"Aw, come on, stop being such a girl."
She rolls her eyes at his lame insult. "I am a girl, you ninny."
He chuckles and motions with his hands for her to come down. "Come on, Mads!" He smiles sweetly, making her melt and give in.
"I'll be down in a second, stay put." She closes her window and walks to her closet to put on some clothes and fix her hair before going downstairs. She knew it was pointless to get herself fixed up. It was dark out and the only person who was going to see her was Noah but for some reason she had to make sure her hair was in place and she had that little bit of pink lipstick across her lips.
