Chapter 1
4 years later
"Ashley!" I roll my eyes at the sound of my name being called, resenting to call back knowing my brother is seconds from walking in, anyway. "Hey, Ash, have you seen my PS4 controller?"
"No, how should I know?" I ask, looking up towards the doorway where Corbyn is standing.
"Dude, I was just asking, I need it," He groans.
"Do I look like your fairy godmother?" I say before turning my attention back to my novel I have laying on my pillow in front of me.
I'm currently re-reading the entire Twilight series for the third time. I'm now in the middle of the fourth book, 'Breaking Dawn'. I guess you could say i'm a little bit of a book nerd. Well, that all depends on your definition of 'little'.
I pick up my book in my hands and start reading where I stopped.
Corbyn then throws himself on my bed and I groan, "Can you like, leave?"
"So what's the hype about these books anyway?" He says snatching the book from my fingers, completely ignoring my previous question.
"Two words: Edward Cullen." I reply trying to reach the book he has sticking way up in the air, so he knows I can't reach it.
He then jumps off the bed and so do I. I chase him around for about thirty seconds trying oh so desperately to get my book back. He seems to be very amused by this, I however, have had enough.
"Seriously Corbs, give me my book and get out." I say putting my hands in my hips and letting out a huff.
He then mocks exactly what I just did and says, "Have you seen my controller?"
"I told you, no. God, just use my old one!" I groan in annoyance.
"No way," He shakes his head with a disgusted face, "Yours is white, it's too feminine for my liking."
I give him a puzzled look, "That's the most stupid, and in a way, sexist excuse I've ever heard in my life."
"How is that sexist?" He asks with a scoff.
"Because you're refusing to use an inanimate object for its color and claiming it's too feminine. It's just white. It's not like it's Pink. But even then, even if it were, you shouldn't have a fit about it. Because it's just a color-"
"All right, damn. Chill," He holds up his hands on surrender, "Geez, mom. I don't need a life lesson, I was just saying, black makes me feel more masculine-"
"Corbyn, it's just a fucking color-"
"Jesus, Ash," Corbyn laughs which only aggravated me more. "You get mad so easily."
"Okay, breathe Ashley. Just count backwards from ten." I tell myself in hopes of calming down.
"10, 9, 8-" I start.
"5" Corbyn interrupts.
"4, 3, 2-- wait!" I look at my brother and see him laughing hysterically to himself. I groan once more and punch him in the shoulder.
"OuCh ThAt HuRt!" he exclaims dramatically while putting his hand up to his shoulder where I released the punch.
I give him a confused face, he seems to notice it and then says, "It's an inside joke with one of my friends. Daniel."
Daniel Seavey. In 8th grade Jordan's dad married Daniel's mom. They've been step-siblings for 3 years now. Let's just say Jordan was not happy about that when he heard the news. And let's also say he never really got over it, and is still holding a grudge against his dad to this day.
