You're just too good to be true. Can't take my eyes off of you.
~ The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill

Naomi

Naomi and Jalen we're finishing up one of their morning sessions when Lani decided to call. "Well hey there!" She laughed into the phone, remembering their conversation from last night. "What's so funny?" Lani groaned. Yomi could hear the door close behind her meaning she was just getting home. "You on the walk of shame huh?" She asked, bursting out in laughter. "No bitch. I came home to get ready for this brunch date." Ailani laughed.

"You didn't get none last night?" Naomi whispered into the phone as she walked into the kitchen. "No girl! We just went to sleep and that's it." Ailani laughed. "Folded." Yomi simply said.

"Girl I called you to let you know I made it home safely." Lani mumbled. "Mhm okay. We'll talk about Mr. Kofi later then." Yomi shrugged. "Alright then, bye hun." Lani replied before hanging up.

Ailani

Ailani hopped in the shower to wash off last night. Her head was throbbing, but something was drawing her to Kofi and she didn't wanna miss out on seeing him at all.

Usually, people would wait a significant amount of time to start showing interest to others. Especially after a long relationship. However, Ailani had mentally broken up with Jayce way before their last argument. She didn't want to drop him at his lowest point, and that's what made her stay. Eventually, she let him go because she couldn't wait any longer for him to get it together.

Lani stepped out of the shower and focused on bouncing back from the hangover she acquired.

After brushing her teeth and moisturizing her skin, Lani searched for a comfortable and cute look for her brunch date. She came across a simple white crop top and slid it on instantly. "Nothing's more comfortable than sweats." She thought as she searched through another drawer. She found a nice fitting grey pair that were high-waisted and grabbed a pair of slides. To jazz it up just a little she added a couple of accessories and fixed her hair up.

Looking at the time she spent, she had about thirty minutes left. She texted Kofi her address and he replied that he'd pull up soon.

While waiting on Kofi to call she walked into her front room to see a note that was slid under her door. She raised an eyebrow and picked it up.

Dear LaLa,

I'm sorry for everything that I've done, especially last night. I should've never grabbed you like that, that wasn't like me. On some real shit, I just want you to talk to me. Tell me what I did wrong, what I could've done better. We've been together for 2 years and I don't want that to go to waste.

I know you was with that dude to make me jealous, but how could you move on so fast? I stuck around a while and it hurt to see you leave with him. Let's talk and I'll leave you alone after that if I can't convince you. I promise.

~Jay

"Boy, fuck you." Lani mumbled. There were more reasons behind their breakup but she wasn't sure if she wanted to talk about that with him. Lani wasn't the best with confrontation, she preferred to sit back, observe, and take note of it. That was most what she had done with Jayce. She didn't confront him about the things he did or said, but she knew all of it. Her emotions weren't with him anymore and she just didn't care. She folded the note up and put it on the table by the door for Yomi to read later.

She walked to the couch to find her phone buzzing next to her cross body bag. Kofi's name was on the screen, enticing her to quickly pick it up. "I'm parked on the street. Red Benz." He said. "Alright. Coming now." She hang up and left out the door.

She opened the door and got in fast, reaching to Kofi a quick hug. "You're feeling better I see." he smiled causing her to laugh. "Yeah, an Advil and a nice shower did the trick." she mumbled while putting her seat belt on. Kofi rode with the windows down and the sunroof uncovered, allowing the wonderful weather to flow through the car. They sat in comfortable silence, allowing the music to be heard.

Kofi

He looked over at Ailani for a few seconds before focusing his eyes back on the road. The subtle glow of her skin, her lips, and eyes; they attracted him. Kofi spent most of his time thinking about Lani after the moment she walked into his office.

He eventually parked at a small restaurant that he enjoyed to eat whenever he had the time. Kofi cut the ignition and got out of the driver's seat and headed to Lani's door in order to open hers. He grabbed her hand as she got out, and she grinned appreciating the gesture. They walked together at a close distance and she smiled up at him before facing ahead. Most of their interaction was quiet in this time, but they understood everything that was being done.

After sitting down, Lani looked up to ask Kofi what he normally ate here and what did he suggest. They joked over a few of the plate combinations before ordering food.

As their food came to them, their conversation got a little deeper. "This is so funny." Lani mumbled to herself, catching Kofi's attention. "What?" he asked digging into his plate. "We literally met a little under twenty four hours ago, and we've already slept in the same bed and are now on a casual brunch date." She said before sipping on a mimosa.

Kofi nodded his head in agreement and sipped on a glass of orange juice. "You're right. I don't mind at all, you're great company." He replied, making Lani blush. "You're good company too." She sheepishly spoke before eating the breakfast on her plate.

"Can I be honest with you?" Kofi put his hands flat on the table. He felt his temperature rise a little as Ailani looked him in his eyes. She nodded, signaling him to speak. "Before I start, let me know if I'm being too forward. There's really something about you that I'm attracted to." He started making her raise her brow. "Not sexually.. we'll yeah sexually but mentally too. You're intriguing. I would just like to get to truly know you." He stumbled trying to find the right words.

He intently watched as she put her fork down, sipped her mimosa, and wiped her mouth all while looking him in his eyes.

"I look forward to getting to know you too." She put her hands on top of his.
