I sat there with numb limbs and soundless words. How could this be? All my life I thought she was dead... but she wasn't. Once again, my father's a liar. I could've known her. I could've had a mother. But now there's absolutely nothing. She's dead. I can't believe this. I'm sitting here on my plush bed back at Ryan's not even caring that I have to marry someone I don''t love. Why would I when someone I could've loved is dead. I let my head fall onto my knees as I hugged on tight to them. I felt a soft hand rubbing my back. I looked up with wet eyes to see a sympathetic Ryan sitting on the bed with me. I would've yelled at him to leave any olther day but right now, I needed his comfort. I let my head back down on my knees and kept sobbing. I felt my bed shift as Ryan moved closer and pulled me into an embrace. He spoke in a soft voice with soothing words. I leaned into him and stayed that way for the next hour.

"If you don't mind, I want to take you somewhere today. You know, to get your mind off things..." He said in a low voice. I didn't want to move but I didn't want to let the chance slip so I nodded. "Nanita has laid out some clothes for you on the coach. I'll leave so you can change." He started to get up but I grabbed his arm. He turned around and I quickly let go, taken aback by my actions. "I'll stay if you'd like. I'll just wait in here and you can change in the closet." I nodded and went out to get my clothes. It was a nice pink high-Low shirt, jeans, and vans. How.. casual. I brushed it off and went to change.

In ten minutes I was done changing and was already heading across the mansion towards his room so that he could get out of the tux and into something casuall as well. Entering his room was a different feeling. It was so... vintage. Antique. It was so rare to me. He was so much like I. Adam's house was all this but that was because of me. This isn't. I marvouled at it all as he went to change. Two minutes later we were in our jackets, walking along the back of the house. There were trees at every corner and the nature was so vibrant I couldn't help but smile.

"I'm happy you're enjoying yourself." He said as we walked along a clear path. I looked up at him and gave him a genuine smile.

"Thanks."

We lasted the entire afternoon walking along. We played tennis, basketball, and racketball. Then he brought me to two of ten tree houses (more like tree mansions) where I marvouled at how alike our taste was. He showed me our private zoo and waterpark and he even brought me down to walk along the beach where he started a bonfire and roasted marshmellows for smores.

"Why are you doing this?" I spoke without wanting to. He looked at the palm of his hands and started rubbing his thumbs against them.

"When my father died, I had no one. I was left alone with a castle full of maids and butlers and chaufers and what have you. My mother... she's just.... bad. Evil. If it doesn't go her way, it doesn't go anywhere at all." He laughed inwardly and looked up at me. " I know how you feel and I know it would be horrible not to have someone to keep your mind on other things. Better things, you know? So... I'm here. And I know you have Adam too but I'm always here for whenever you get tired of him." He smiled at me and it warmed my heart. I smiled back.

"Thank you. It means a lot."

"And when you're ready. I want you to come to me to talk about it. I know... I know this is just contract to you but it isn't to..." The sound of a car nearby stopped him. It was a beach cruiser. He pulled up in front of us and came out.

"Sir, your mother is here to visit. She said it's urgent."

"Tell her I'm busy."

"But sir..."

"I said I am busy. DO you not understand English?" His bad temper fascinated me. Only because I was the same way.

"But she's mad.. You know how scary she gets when.."
