"So I'm not the only one?!" I asked in a demanding tone.
"No you're not, but I need you to calm down." My mom said as she tried to grab my arm in "comfort".
"No. You think that I just automatically knew what I was without explanation?" I said slamming my fists on the table. "Does Jason know?" I asked.
"No he doesn't which is why you have to be quiet." She said in a clam yet firm tone.
"Is he one to?" I asked while glaring at her.
"No. He isn't." She said looking down at the table.
"Oh, so I'm just a freak of nature?" I asked, using hand movements to extenuate what I felt.
"No. You both have a different dad.." She says as she starts twiddling her thumbs.
"You didn't think to tell us?" I asked while pacing around the room.
"I was going to tell you but the subject didn't come up." She said, looking up from the table.
"So where's Jason's dad? Where's my dad?" I asked, running my hands through my hair in frustration.
"Jason's dad died when you both were very little. Your dad is a whole other story." She sighed.
"No. You've kept this from me my whole life, you have to tell me now." I said in a firm tone.
"I will tell you sometime but not tonight. It is late we both need to go to sleep." She said getting up from the table to walk over to me.
As soon as she got up from the table we heard someone coming down the stairs.
"Why are you both up and yelling at 4 in the morning?" Jason asked in a sleepy voice.
"Nothing go back to bed." Mom said, walking over to him and shooing him up the stairs. "We were just having a little disagreement."
"Yeah...little." I muttered under my breath only to get a glare from my mom.
After she got Jason up the stairs and heard his bedroom door close she turned around to look at me.
"We will continue this tomorrow, while Jason is at school." She said in a calm tone.
"Fine." I said, picking up the plate of uneaten lasagna and placing it in the microwave to heat it up again. I wasn't going to let that go to waste no matter how mad I was.
...
Around 10 AM I woke up and walked downstairs. No body was home at the moment so I just made myself a bowl of cereal and sat in the living room watching TV. I heard a car pull up in the driveway and I looked to see who it was. My mom got out of the car and started walking towards the door holding a bag in her hand. She unlocked the door and looked at me.
"Oh, good you're up." She said, handing me the bag.
"What is this?" I asked suspiciously.
"Just look." She said, putting her keys on the dish we have on the table.
I looked in the bag and it was my favorite frozen yogurt. There was a place not too far away from us and it had the best frozen yogurt.
"Thank you," I said, getting up from the couch to go to the kitchen. "But, why?"
"Because I figure you deserve something that makes you happy, since what we're going to talk about later won't." She said, handing me a spoon straight from the dishwasher.
