"Hey bud" I reach over the door to pet my beautiful horse. Blaze is brown all over with the exception of her black socks on her legs, she also has a black mane and tail. On her muzzle she is kind gray, on the tips of her ears are there also a little bit of black. Her fur is always shining when she stands in the sun, because of the colure of her fur. Blaze is an 8-year-old mare and I have had her for 3 years. And those three years have been the best three years of my entire life. I was so happy when my parents bought her for me as a Christmas present. She was without a doubt the best present ever.
Blaze snorted and started to sniff my pocket because she knows that I always have a carrot for her.
"Her you go, you have earned it for being such a good horse" I gave her the carrot I had hidden in my pocket.
"Are you ready for today girl?" I pat one last time before going to the saddle room, were all Blaze's and my stuff was. I quickly grab her curry combs and her boots. I always get her saddle and bridle after I had cleaned her so that the saddle doesn't get dust on it. Blaze really like to roll in the dirt, so she is always dusty.
I took Blaze out of her stall and bind her in the hallway. I start to groom her while I mumble my favorite song.
"Hey Calla, are you on your way out?"
I looked up from where I was brushing Blaze's tail and saw Juan walking towards her and blaze. Juan was very handsome. He has sandy blond hair; it was not too short nor too long. If I should say so myself, it was the perfect length. Juan also had blue eyes and the complimented his features perfect. He also had a really good personality; he was friendly and liked helping others. And then he adored animals. He was a man after my own taste.
"Hey Juan" I smiled at Juan. "what are you doing here? I thought that you were working on Thursdays"
"Well I normally do work today, but my boss had mixed up the work plan so we were too many and I asked if I could go early and he agreed" " Juan gave me a wide smile. I knew that Juan liked to work, but whenever he had some free time he would spend it at the barn.
"Areyou then planning to ride Castor today?" Castor was Juan's horse. He is a beautiful 6-year-old gelding. He has the most beautiful gray fur I have everseen. Normally I don't like gray horses, because you can easily see if theyhave rolled in their own dirt or in the grass. But Castor's fur was alwaysshining and rarely dirty, beside the dust for being in the pen.
"Yes, I was thinking about it, since I have the time and I am going to a competition on Sunday. So I have to be ready." Juan took a rope from the rack where all the ropes were. And then making his way over to Castor's stall.
"Don't you always have to be ready?" I shot back with a smile. I never compete without being prepared properly. If you think that you just can compete without being ready, it could go wrong very fast and you could end up hurting yourself or your horse in the prosses.
"Of course, you always have to be ready, but I have to be extra ready," Juan answered with a smile. Also starting to groom Castor.
"Why do you have to be extra ready?" I smiled at him, I knew that he was fishing for that answer since he didn't tell why. He wanted me to be interested in the answer.
"This competition is going to be the first where we jump 150" I could see that he was so excited for this weekend and I could understand that. Juan was an amazing rider that really understood how to connect with the horse. Castor was also an amazing jumper. Even when you thought that they would tear down a bar, castor would pull his legs up under his stomach really fast. We liked to joke that if the course towards the jump was set Castor would jump it no matter what. They would actually have been jumping 150 at competitions, but last year Castor injured his leg in the pen, so Juan couldn't ride him for about 9 weeks and then there was the rehabilitation, and that took him 13 weeks. So it took about 5 and a half months took get Castor back in shape. Juan could probably have started him before in the 150 classes, but he wanted to make sure that the injury didn't flare up again.
"Well, then I can for sure understand why you are excited for this weekend." Juans excitement about the upcoming weekend was already rubbing off on me. When I was done grooming Blaze and chatting some more with Juan I went into the room where all of our equipment was kept. It was a room that was build specific for the purpose of keeping our saddles, bridles and riding boots warm and dry, so the leather doesn't get stiff.
"What do you plan on doing with blaze today?" Juan said to me while walking into the room and going over to his riding boots to chance shoes.
"I am going to jump her today, since I plan on going to some competitions later this month, so I have to get her into a better shape."
"From what I have seen you ride on her, I would say that she is in a pretty nice shape." I looked up laughing a little and saw Juan smiling at me.
"She is in a pretty good shape but it could always me better" I winked at him, the took my saddle and bridle and walked out to Blaze, yelling to Juan "See you on the show jumping ground"

I am sorry for not updating for a while, I had some troubles continuing the story. You could say that it was because of the dreaded writers' block, or I was just a bit too lazy. I get distracted easily.
But anyway. I hope you liked chapter two. And I will try to update more often :)
