Where are you?

Eyes darting. Lights flashing. Heart racing. Where was he? He was the only reason big enough to venture out to this party and Dan did not want this to be a night of necessary suffering. Just a glimpse. That's all he wanted, that's all he wanted, right? He couldn't lie to himself, of course he wanted more than a glimpse at the boy that made him feel as though his body was failing. If only these lights would stop flashing green, blue, red and so many other colours and blinding Dan whenever he tried to look around the packed room. So many people, so many strangers, so many people crammed into just one room and all of the others in this house and yet he didn't feel threatened or scared of them, just hindered by their presence. Where was that boy? And how big was this room?

Dan soon managed to escape the living room and found himself in the kitchen which had a different vibe to it. In this particular room there seemed to be sexual tension and high levels of intoxication from the many bottles and types of alcohol that were strewn across the counters. That was the difference, Dan thought, between children's birthday parties and the parties you have as a young adult, there was very little food and immense amounts of alcohol whereas at children's parties it's all food. The kitchen had been an unsuccessful room and one that made him significantly more uncomfortable. With less people meant less distractions which led to most people focusing their attention on the new boy in the room. Where are you? He muttered as his eyes darted around for somewhere else to go while his mind worked very hard in trying to remember the other parts of this house in which he had only been to twice. Ah, there was another possible place, the garden. I will find you.

Fresh air. Something Dan hadn't realised he needed but appreciated. Out here were the smokers and those that were interested in one another but wouldn't admit it so left their friends behind to go outside and 'talk'. Ugh. Where are you? Dan was slowly giving up, maybe he wasn't here? Maybe he had lied to his friends about coming to this party, but maybe Dan shouldn't have listened in to other people's conversations. Trust him to be the one running around searching for someone that didn't even know he existed.

"Hey"

Dan had been so deep in thought and doubt that he hadn't noticed a girl that he somewhat recognised come over and sit next to him.

"Hi"

He muttered quietly, he wasn't the most sociable when it came to parties or people in general.

"You're looking for someone?"

"What....."

he panicked

"n...no of course not"

She laughed and shook her head

"I'm not stupid and you're a bad liar"

She paused and looked him in the eye

"He's upstairs somewhere.... good luck"

She then got up squeezed his shoulder before leaving him sitting alone and wondering how on Earth she knew.

Shit. How many other people knew?

By the time he had made it to the stairs he had, had a good few drinks and wasn't really conscious of his actions or thinking about what he was doing all he knew was they he wanted to find him, and soon. Climbing one stair at a time there was one difference, it was quieter up here, maybe because there was no music, there was no alcohol and those that had consumed too much could not get up the steep stairs. Then a thought came to Dan's head,a toilet, he could really do with that right now. As he stood in the bathroom looking at himself in the mirror with the door shut he was wondering what he had done wrong to have not even got a glimpse of the boy he had come to see. But suddenly someone burst into the bathroom shutting the door quickly behind them causing Dan to jump and fall to the ground in fright but then something else nearly killed him. God it was him.

He stood still mouthing at Dan not to make a noise and to stay quiet. His black hair looked as though it had been done for tonight but someone had messed it up, his shirt was half unbuttoned, his belt undone and his eyes filled with an emotion Dan could scarcely recognise or comprehend. Fuck he was so beautiful. Dan looked so stupid, curled up underneath the sink, eyes full of desire. After Phil breather a sigh of relief Dan knew it was safe to relax a little until Phil offered him his hand in order to help him up. When Dan stood up his heart raced in his chest, this was the closest they had ever been to one another, those piercing blue eyes were enough to take his breath away.

"I'm Phil by the way"

He said with a smile

"I know"

Dan whispered under his breath which made Phil laugh

"I...I am Dan"

"Ah I'm finally meeting the boy I've heard so much about them am I?"

Dan turned red and looked confused. What? No one ever spoke to him or about him as far as he was aware, he was one of the forgotten people in his school, he dreaded to think what Phil had been told about him.

"And so...."
Phil walked Dan against the door as he stepped back with each step Phil took.

"If what they say is true .... you came here for this"

He whispered with a smile before pressing his lips against Dan's.
Dan wrapped his arms around Phil's neck and kissed back, how was this happening?
Phil slowly ran his hands up the inside of Dan's shirt causing him to shiver and moan into the kiss, this was all he had wanted for a long time.

Much to Dan's dismay there was a knock on the bathroom door and a shout of

"Hey can I come in? I can't wait any longer"

Phil sighed and pulled away from Dan giving him an apologetic smile before taking his hand and leading the two of them out of the bathroom and walking quickly past the girl who was waiting that threw them a questioning glance.

And so that is how Dan began to smile more often, laugh more often and socialise with others more often. And even still when he went to parties with Phil he would always mutter the occasional 'where are you?' When he lost sight of Phil which was a regular occurrence as Dan wasn't the most vigilant of people and Phil was not the most aware under the influence of alcohol which made them a pair of boys that shouldn't fit together but did even if it took a lot of searching to realise it.
