Down on memory lane

{Lilly & Cole}

-"Mom, really! I just hate her, she is annoying and stupid..."

-"Cole, don't talk about Kim like this darling, it is not nice."

-"argh-aaa..! Why does she have to be here every day? I don't mind Pete but Kim is just, just...."

-"My lovely angel, please come down, I explained to you before my love, we are family for them. Their mom is at work, she works long hours, and their father has to travel for shows with your dad. They don't have any family around, we are their family."

-"Just look, just LOOK mom what she did in my sketchbook! Argghh!" - Cole gives his mom the book and runs screaming upstairs to his bedroom in frustration.

Lilly looked at the sketchbook, Cole is 8 and he draws very well for his age, Kim is 7, and her drawings are average for her age, she has drawn 4 figures, a big one with dark long hair in a plait and big smile, 3 small ones, one with black hair following into its eyes and two blondes, the black hair small figure has 2 big teeth, and a grin smile in its face as the other two has the same smile of the big one, around the 4 figures, a big heart, and lots of stars and colours.

-"Cole" - Lilly goes after her son, now a bit calmer sit down on his bed, she asked him -"Please tell mom, what do you see at this picture?"

-"I don't know! A bunch of stupid squiggles... she doesn't even know how to draw"

-"it is true that she can't draw as good as you. But, let's see if we can see beyond the drawing what Kim is trying to tell us."

Lilly is also very good at drawing, she always shows Cole paints and styles and always encourages him to look at any piece of art and see beyond the drawing, what is the artist trying to tell to its spectators.

-"May I tell you what I see here?" - Cole nods back to his mom - "Well I see Kim's attempt to tell us how much she loves us, and she is probably jealous of your 2 new big teeth, as she is right now without any.... " - Lilly laughs kindly, thinking about Kim's adorable toothless smile.

He looks again at the drawing, and pull a funny face, he knows his mom is right, as always. But he is still mad.

-"She could have done her picture in another piece of paper instead of destroying my sketchbook."

-"Yes, I suppose she could, but I guess she thought you might want to keep it forever, she knows how much you care for your sketchbooks."

-"I will tear that page off...."

-"Well if you tear this page off you will also lose another page, here look" - Lilly shows him another page connect, and there is a very good drawing there.

-"Oh damn... That was a good one!" - he said looking at the connect page.

-"It is! You even got the shadows in perspective. Cole! You are getting better every day. I think you should keep this page, one day you might look at that and see only a happy memory."

-"OK! I will!"

-"Maybe, we could give Kim her own sketchbook, what do you think?"

-"Only if she promises never touch mine again"

He gives his mom a big hug, she always knows how to make him feel better.

AN: Sorry for the short chapter. I love writing about Cole and his Mom, the show always make clear that it is a big loss for Cole, I had also lost my mom a few years ago and I can relate to that, the truth is, you never get over it.
