"Soph, don't be upset, it wasn't your fault."
Ashleigh tries to reassure me after our appalling drama play. Well, she wasn't appalling, it was me. I forgot almost every line and stuttered with the ones I did know. It was supposed to be a comedy, but the class was laughing for the wrong reason. My face is still red from embarrassment.
"it was awful" I put my head in my hands.
It was after school and we were waiting outside the music suite for Michael.
"Ugh, Soph! It's life! Okay, remember my English oral last year? I got a D+ because I made it up 5 minutes before I was supposed to present it. I forgot everything and everyone laughed, including Michael, because I sounded like an idiot!"
I laughed remembering her embarrassment.
"See?!" She said, laughing.
Michael walked out of the building holding his gutair and a sheet of paper.
"What's that?" Ashleigh stood on her toes looking over Michaels shoulder at the paper in his hand.
"Just the performing timetable, for assemblies and shit" Michael huffed and walked down the stairs.
Ash and I looked at each other,
"Babe, what's wrong?" She called to him.
"Nothing" Michael said, he didn't turn around.
Ashleigh rolled her eyes "come on" she whispered to me, running up to Michael. I followed.
"Okay, what" she said holding his arm when she reached him.
He sighed "it's just, Mr Rudd had a massive go at us in practise, he said we need to stop mucking around and shit because of how 'important' it is for us to concentrate. He's so ridiculous! Last year he said he'd get us more gigs, but he didn't. He even talked about signing us up for xfactor, but he didn't."
"Well, maybe you can sign up for the xfactor without him?" I suggested.
Michael shook his head, "nah, not worth it, both Luke and Calum's parents don't want them to until they've at least finished school."
"So? Just wait until then?" I said.
"Yeah, I guess" he said.
"Wait, Mr Rudd said what? How can he treat you like that? What a dickhead!" Ashleigh walked up the stairs back to the music suite.
Michael grabbed her arm "no, don't worry, I have a headache, let's just all go back to mine and I have some pizza" he smiled.
Ashleigh grabbed both of his hands and went on her toes to kiss him "okay" she said.
He looked at me "you wanna follow me in your car back to mine?"
"I wish" I said, looking at the ground.
"I can't, sorry guys I need to pick up Zac and Emma, I'll see you tomorrow."
I walked to the car park and unlocked the car door, I had a tiny ass Toyota, which is probably alright considering I'm only short, but I'd rather a better car.
...
"Ugh finally! Where the hell have you been?" My pleasant 12 year old sisters asks me.
"Uhh, school?" I said.
"Well you should have been quicker, we finish earlier, so you should leave as quick as you can" she said emphasising the 'we.'
I tried not to argue as I had a headache.
"Okay then, if you want to sit in the front, then you have to shut up, and no changing my radio, if you touch anything, you're walking" I said, meaning it. It was only a 20 minute walk, so they could both do it. They're just too lazy.
Emma rolled her eyes at me.
"So Zac, how was your day?" I said looking at him through the rear view mirror.
"Fine" he said, shrugging. We have 'book day' tomorrow though, we have to dress up as a character for our favourite book series" he grinned.
"Oh they still go that? I remember doing that." I said smiling.
"Yeah, it's shit" Emma said.
"It is not!" Zac argued.
"Oh shut up Emma! Frigging hell, I swear to god I will make you walk. You're lucky I'm not a bitch to tell mum what you said"
"What did I say then?" She said smiling at me.
"You know" I scowled ahead at the road.
"Yeah, I know that you shouldn't scowl like that, because you'll end up with creases on your face"
I stopped scowling and rolled my eyes.
My sister had officially reached her 'bitchy' stage. She was actually cute once upon a time, I remember when we used to play barbies, she would always cut the hair off of hers, whereas I kept mine in mint condition. Now she's transforming into that 'not quite a teenager, but not a little kid anymore' or in society language a 'twelvie.'
"Yay we're home" I said sarcastically.
Zac jumped put of the car. I slumped to the door.
"Hel-lo, earth to Sophia. You forgot to get our bags from the boot"
I rolled my eyes and growled frustratedly.
"Get used to it, because until mum gets better, this is your life" my bitch of a sister smiled wickedly at me and walked in the house with her expensive school bag. More expensive than mine.
When she shut the door I stuck my middle finger at the house. It didn't get rid of the anger inside of me. I could be at Michaels house right now, listening to him talk about his band, and the guys in it. They were all the 'popular' ones, Luke and Ashton especially. I'd only talked to Calum and obviously Michael. The other 2 probably wouldn't be seen dead with me. I laughed at myself, my weird sense of humour.
When I got inside I put my keys on my bedside table and crawled into bed. I fell asleep shortly after, thinking about bands and pizza.
