"Wake up Soph!"
Someone was jerking me awake.
It was Zac.
"Hurry up, you have to take me to soccer in 15 minutes!"
I groaned frustratedly and sat up in my bed, Zac already had his soccer gear on and was putting on his boots.
"You know, Emma's being really rude lately" he said as he tied up his shoelaces.
You don't say? I thought.
"Yeah, she's just turning into a teenager, girls get like that" I said.
"You didn't" Zac said and I laughed.
"What?" He questioned.
"Oh yes I did" I said "you just wouldn't remember, I mean you were only 5"
He rolled his eyes.
"Okay whatever, can we go now?"
"What time is it"
He shrugged as I checked my phone.
It was 5:45, he had to be there at 6.
...
"Cya mum" I called out as I left the house.
"Cya Hun, make sure to pick up something for dinner on the way home"
"Sure"
I shut the front door and unlocked the car, Zac was bounding with energy.
"I'm so excited, I can't wait to meet my new team for this season, I heard that the coach is really cool he's like, your age apparently!" He was basically jumping on his seat.
"Cool" Was all I said.
"I bet I'm a midfielder this season, how cool would that be?"
Zac went on and on about the new soccer season, I kinda zoned out listening to the music on the radio.
...
"Okay we're here, I'll come and wait with you until we find your coach, then I'll wait in the car" I said to Zac.
He was already running up to his teammates and their parents.
"Oh hi! You must be Sophie" said one of the mums when I got to where they were all gathered.
"Oh it's Sophia" I said awkwardly.
"My apologies, how's your mum?" She said.
"On the mend" I replied.
"Well at least she's feeling better, tell her Sonja hopes she gets better soon!"
I smiled and thanked her, I assumed she was Sonja, but I wasn't going to ask.
...
We waited a full 10 minutes for the coach, and I wish I wore trackies instead of jeans, it was freezing.
Finally the coach turned up, and Zac was right, he did look young. He had a young boy with him, who I assumed was his brother.
As he got closer I realised who he was.
Ashton Irwin.
What?
Ashton Irwin, the popular guy in the schools most popular band? My brothers soccer coach?
"Hey guys, uh, sorry I'm late I had some paperwork to sign. My names Ashton and I'm obviously your coach. This is my brother, Harry"
I looked at Harry, he looked nothing like Ashton.
"Okay, well lets get started, let's begin by doing 3 laps around the pitch, dribbling the soccer balls"
The boys all ran at once kicking the ball in front of them.
"Okay parents, you don't have to come to every training, but it would be appreciated if you could come to the end of every session as I may have some important things I need to discuss with you"
The parents all thanked him and walked back to their cars.
That's when he saw me.
"Oh, hey? You go to my school right? Uhh.. Soph- Sophie?"
"Sophia" I corrected him.
"Oh, right. Are you with your brother?"
I nodded "yeah, Zac's mine" I sighed. "He talks a lot, so don't hesitate to shut him up"
Ashton laughed.
"Well, looks like they've finished their laps, guess I'll see you around school?"
"Yeah, sure" I smiled "cya"
When I got back into the car I couldn't believe it.
See me around school? He's like the most popular guy, why would he even say that?
