15. 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐞𝐧𝐝

As I made my way back to the common room I spotted a figure from the hallway. Someone helped him take off his jacket as he was on crutches when he turned around I immediately realised who it was.

Thredson.

"Shit" I cursed myself for letting this happen.

How long was I even out!?

I launched myself into the common room at speed walked over too Lana who was talking to Kit.

"He's back" I spoke as I interrupted them.

"Who's back?" Kit asked looking at me like I've grown two heads. "Thredson!" I shushed him turning my attention back to Lana. "What, how!?" She quirked her brow in a more 'panicked' way. "I don't know!?" I replied to her frantically, on top of this we were running out of time!

"Go!" She tried to usher us away. It took me a minute to realise what she was saying. "What are you on about I'm not leaving here without you!" I looked at her in confusion. "Look Aiden you saved me, now it's my turn." She took a deep breath. " I'll hold him off just take Kit and run, and promise me you won't stop running until you reach the light. That's when you know you're there." She finalised.

"Lana... I'm going to miss you." I pulled her into a tight hug, handing her the letter I wrote earlier. "This explains it all" I gave her a reassuring nod grasping kits hand and beginning to run.

"Run.... and don't STOP!" Her voice began to get quieter the further we ran. We headed through the door and out of the tunnel retracing the route from the show. A gust of wind hit me in the face as we exited the tunnel and I bought myself to a halt. I could've sworn I heard the creatures feasting on something... I took a step back from the darkness ahead of me.

"What are you doing Aiden!?" Kit asked in a panicked manner. I took a deep breath, turning towards him. "Look Kit I just want you to know that whatever happens tonight your the best thing that has EVER happened to me!" I placed a hand on his face and began to feel the tears jerk from my eyes.

For all, I knew this could be the end. In fairytales they wake up when the spell has been broken and I confessed my love to kit, I have no idea what's about to happen now.

"Hey hey hey, we're going to get out of here." his words hit me and I could only hope he was right.

I wanted to be with him.

He intertwined our fingers and began pulling me along. We picked up speed as we ran. Through the woods, branches tearing at my gown and scratching my legs. Although it hurt I couldn't stop. The trees began to feel like they were closing in on us, but we had to keep going. There was no other choice.
