"Can we have the bill?" The lady spoke from her seat, as the last bit of sun glimmered from the window onto her fair ginger hair, as it was setting. To be completely honest this left me quite relieved as I knew it was closing time right after her and her daughter left. "Thank you! come again soon" I smiled at the two as they left through the glass door, causing the bell on top to jingle. I slowly took off my apron placing it on the counter.

A sigh slipped from my mouth as a small part of me stood there pondering on the thought that I wish I never took this summer job with my mom at her diner, as I was on my feet all day, with barely anytime to spare, and every break I did get it was only for five minuets until I was called to the counter. Still, I had to be there for my mom.

The only thing that kept me sane was the fact that I got to watch my favourite season of 'ahs' when I got home.

Asylum.

"Darling" my mom called from the parking lot as I locked up the diner. I soon snapped out of my day dream and got into the roasting hot car.

"God mom, can we have some AC on in here." I exclaimed. This was the hottest summer St. Louis has had so far, and I was not a fan. "Seat belt" the woman simply replied whilst starting the engine, and we were soon on our way.

After about five minutes of heading up the hill we came to a set of traffic lights, and waited for the lights to turn green again. I gazed out the window thinking about my bed, god how I've missed it.

As the lights flashed a vibrant green, we once again pulled away. A vibration comes from the dash board and my mother soon notices.

"Aiden......?" She waited for a reply to which one didn't fall from my lips. "Honey.. Will you get that??" The woman continued. "It's probably your father."

When I finally snapped out of my day dream foR the second time today. God I've got to stop doing that. I thought to myself.

I then turned my attention to her realising she's been trying to talk to me.

"Sorry mom what did you need?" I answered completely unaware. "Nothing." She slightly snapped before grabbing the phone herself and beginning to type. "Mom. Keep your eyes on the road." I began to slightly panic as she barely looks up. "It's fine darling. I've been driving for years, nothing is going to hap-"

But I didn't revive an answer as another car came speeding across the four ways, t-boning the left side of our car straight into the drivers door.

My life flashed in front of my eyes, and I couldn't do a thing to stop it.
