MADISON POV

"Ok, love you, see you soon, bye." I hung up the phone. Thomas said he was going to be a little late from coming home from work. Which was kind of shitty but I couldn't do anything about it. He said he was going to go by the grocery store to buy stuff. Very specific. I laid down on the couch and got on social media. I just mindlessly roamed through them. Mostly Pinterest.

JEFFERSON POV

I looked around at the all the cats. There were small ones and large ones and they came in all different conditions. While I was scanning my eyes around landed in a small and fragile grey kitten.

"Excuse me ma'm?" She looked up from her clipboard.

"What's exactly...wrong with this kitten?"

"Aw yeah," She said with a sad sigh, pity in her voice.

"This one was abandoned by her family. She's a...calm kitten. Most people are looking for a playful kitten."

"Oh..." This surprisingly sounded...perfect! James loves cuddling and usually I was at work at the law firm. I'm assuming he got lonely so I was getting him a kitten. I looked back at the calm grey-blue eyes starring back at me.

"I'll take this one." She looked at me surprised, but just for a moment. I was there for another 45 minutes filling out paper work and getting the car ready. In the end, I bought a crate, cat food, cat bowls, cat toys, and of course the cat. I spent around 200 dollars which Jemmy would be pissed about, but I got a kitten!

STILL JEFFERSON'S POV

I got out of the car. I decided to take the cat food and the bowls up first. I came back down and gently took the cat crate out. I walked up the 2 flights of stairs to our apartment. The small kitten didn't make a sound it just calmly laid down, curled up in a ball. After a few minutes of struggling to get my key and open the door, it opened. I tried to creep in as quietly as possible. As soon as my eyes adjust to the dark I notice James is passed out on the couch. He was snuggled under my sweatshirt which was large on him. He had his face half tucked into it. He was sleeping peacefully but you could hear the small noises of congestion. I'll remind him to take his pills after he meets the cat.

"James." I whispered sweetly. His eyes fluttered open. He immediately gave a small, tired smile.

"Hey Thomas!" He whispered groggily. He leaned over and placed a kiss on my nose. I could feel the butterflies in my stomach stir.

"Jemmy, I got you something." I purred, he stirred more awake at the words.

"Really?" He said with childlike excitement.

"Yep. Ok, close your eyes." He put his hand over his eyes. Before I walked away I saw him try to peak.

"NO!" I laugh and yelled. He put his hands back over his eyes with a playful smirk. I opened the crate as quietly as I could. I picked up the small kitten. He didn't even make a sound. I took her over and set her on Jemmy's lap. Then I quickly lifted up his hand. He gave an adorable little gasp at the sight.

"OH! MY! GOODNESS!" He squeaked. He gently pick her up.

"THOMAS!" I just laughed at his pure adorableness. I gently gave him a soft kiss on the cheek. His eyes were wide as he was cooing over the female cat.

MADISON POV

"Thank you so much babe!~" I whispers to him. We were both laying in bed. The adorable kitten curled up in my chest. I gently stroked its head. It's beautiful grey fur soft on my finger tips.

"Thomas?" I asked looking over at him.

"Hmm?" He responded, fluttering open his tired eyes.

"What should we name her?" We both sat in the silence, thinking of a decent name.

"How about Lucy?" He suggested. At this new name Lucy the cat perked up.

"Lucy it is," I said stroking the cat calmly as she moved to lay in between the small space of me and Thomas.

"Goodnight Babe." I whispered as we all fell asleep.

Also, if you're wondering about the inspiration for the name Lucy, it was one of Thomas Jefferson's children. I just liked the name, I thought it was nice.
