Day Twelve. (Continued)

The open stern of the yacht, which doubled as a swimming platform, was empty besides, Zoe, Carmen, and her kids, though, the music that entertained the people on the front deck also played through the speakers above Zoe and Carmen's head. The music was quiet, which allowed them to chat for awhile after Carmen arrived and the yacht left the dock. After they had caught up a bit, neither giving too much detail about their personal lives, Bailey decided she wanted to jump and dance to the music.

At first, Bailey jumped around and danced by herself as Carmen and Zoe watched with smiles on their faces. And then, she got a little too close to the edge of the stern, where there was nothing keeping her falling directly into the water. There were close enough to the shore that it wouldn't become an instant emergency situation but they were still far enough out that it would be dangerous to get into the water. Especially, since it was nighttime and nobody could even see through the ocean waves.

Carmen nearly jumped up to grab Bailey and pull her from the edge of the stern but, since she had Malik in her arms, Zoe beat her to the punch.

"I got her! Don't worry!" Zoe exclaimed as she hopped out of her seat and rushed to grab Bailey.

Carmen reluctantly relaxed into her lounge seat again as she carefully watched Zoe grab Bailey's hand and coach her away from the edge of the boat. Zoe distracted Bailey from hopping around in such a risky area by holding both of Bailey's hands over her head and making her dance with her. Carmen happily chuckled when Bailey excitedly squealed and danced around with Zoe. Seeing Bailey have fun made Carmen's heart warm in a way she couldn't even describe.

It wasn't often that Carmen could make Bailey laugh and smile and dance. They were always trapped in the same house everyday and Malik was younger so, he needed a lot more attention. The only time Bailey danced was when her favorite morning cartoon came on and the only time she laughed was when Carmen did something extra goofy to cheer her up. Otherwise, Bailey was a very introverted, shy, moody, little toddler. Carmen couldn't blame her. She wouldn't have wanted to grow up like this either.

Watching Bailey and Zoe dance so goofily eventually made Malik giggle to himself. Carmen was shocked, staring at Malik with a smile on her face as he chewed on a plastic teething toy. He munched down on the toy, drooled all over his hands, and giggled every time Bailey squealed with excitement. Carmen couldn't help herself from bouncing Malik in her lap and making him dance too, which made him laugh even more.

And, for awhile, Zoe, Bailey, Carmen, and Malik all enjoyed themselves. They were having fun. It was a rare occasion but, that's part of what made it even more precious.

Unfortunately, rare occasions were rare for a reason because trouble was lurking nearby, watching and scowling at the sight of Carmen and Zoe having such a good time. Ezra's entire night was ruined by Mrs. Yang's rejection and he knew he only got rejected because Zoe put a target on his back. And Zoe would have no reason to put a target on his back if she didn't know Carmen, who had obviously ran her mouth about issues in their relationship that nobody was suppose to know about.

The girls in front of Ezra where his greatest enemies. Which is exactly why he came here with a plan. He didn't expect tonight to go so horribly but he did expect Carmen and Zoe to get in his way at some point. And, he wasn't exactly hesitant to deal with them.

Ezra dropped his phone from his ear and looked out to the ocean, spotting a small boat with faint lights fighting the waves as it made it's way towards the Yang's yacht. Ezra knew he had to work fast so his escape boat didn't sit too long near the yacht and get noticed. Also, after his business was done, he would have to flee before he was caught and dealt with. Even if his escape framed him for what happened, at least, he wouldn't be here to be arrested or anything. Everything else had gone so wrong, he didn't have much else to lose.
