Jason came to consciousness quickly. His surrounding snapped into focus, but he kept his body limp and his breathing even trying to remember where he was. The last thing he remembered was green but that couldn't be right, he hadn't seen that shade of green since, well, he wasn't going to think about that right now.

Then he remembered. Scarecrow.

He launched to his feet looking around frantically. Only to see a manifestation of his worst nightmare but this time his family was here too.

"Batman?"

His voice came out scared and broken. Bruce, Tim, Damien, and Dick rushed over to him eyes wide.

"Where are we? What happened?" He asked voice still sounding scared. He tried to ignore the voice in his head that told him he knew exactly where they were.

"I think this is where the Joker killed you." Batman said hesitantly. Jason recoiled like he'd been shocked. But he quickly got a hold of himself.

"Impossible. I burned this place to the ground. Made sure even the ashes weren't recognizable."

An all to familiar voice boomed through the room.

"Don't worry Jason. It's all in your head."

"Fear gas. But if it's fear gas how is everyone here?"

"A special concoction just for you. Enjoy."

And with that the room fell silent once more.

Dick finally spoke up.

"Was that Black Mask? Why are you scared of him?" He asked. There was no accusation to his voice, just genuine curiosity but Jason still went on the defensive.

"That's none of your fucking business. I think we should be focusing more on how to get out of this nightmare and less on who is or is not talking." He snapped. He narrowed his eyes at everyone silently daring them to make anymore comments. But they just nodded solemnly.

"I was able to get off a distress signal to Alfred before I blacked out. He knows we were taking down Scarecrow so he'll know to use the cure for fear gas."

Batman's voice was calming, and what he was saying was even more calming. This nightmare was only going to last for a little bit longer.

Then he heard the Joker behind him.

"Hello little bird. Are you lost?"

His eyes focused on the crowbar held in his hand and he breathed a small sigh of relief. With his family behind him and years of experience he felt much more confident than before.

"Were going to be out of here in minutes Joker. I'm not scared of you anymore."

He stepped in front of the people he'd come to love, ready to protect them at all costs. The Joker broke into a fit of laughter, his evil face twisting into something inhuman. He snapped his fingers and Jason found himself tied to a chair by barbed wire in the center of the room. He glanced around and saw everyone else chained to the walls.

"Jason!" Damien's voice rang out. More panic than Jason had ever heard from the normally stoic boy.

"It's okay guys. I lived through this once I'll be fine."

Those were the last coherent words he got out.

"Which one hurts worse?" The Joker asked, his glee evident.

"Forehand?"

He smashed to crowbar into the left side of Jason's head causing him to see stars.

"Or backhand?"

The crowbar made a sickening thud as it connected with the right side of his head. The Joker cackled again.

"Awww you used to scream so pretty for me when I did that. Do you remember?"

Jason just let his head hang in defeat. He did remember, he also remembered the punishment for responding and he did not want that.

"You do remember! I'm so proud!"

He sat there silently as Joker rained down blow after blow. He let out a low whisper when the crowbar cracked his shin, still refusing the Joker the pleasure of hearing him scream. His first scream came when the crowbar smashed into his hands breaking his fingers. Joker let out a moan.

"There you go little bird. Your screams are delicious."

Memories of the last time Joker had told him that flew to his mind causing his stomach to heave. He turned his head to the side throwing up the contents of his stomach.

The Joker let out a little tisk.

"You got my floor all dirty." His voice sounded hurt but Jason heard the warning. He shook his head desperately eyes darting to where his family chained to the wall watching in horror. The Joker ignored his pleas, a long knife appearing in his hand. He quickly cut off Jason's suit leaving him in just his boxers.

Jason scrunched his eyes shut as the knife bit deep into his quickly bruising skin. He tried to hold back his screams but he couldn't help the high pitched screams as the knife carved into his skin. Then the knife lifted to his check coming to rest where the scar from the real joker stood out against his pale face.

"You're mine." The Joker growled tracing the scar with his knife. "Never forget that you're mine."

"I'm yours. No one else's. Please I'll do anything. I'll be good I promise."

The words slipped out of Jason's mouth without conscious thought. The Joker paused.

"Anything little bird? You always knew how to turn me on."

Jason nodded quickly. Suddenly he was on his knees, his wounds healed. He was still only in his boxers but for now it was break from the pain. He looked up expecting it to be the Joker standing over him. Instead he found himself staring at Batman. His father figure tried desperately to back up but he couldn't go anywhere. Jason tried to scramble back but a hand on his shoulder stopped his movement.

"You did say anything little bird."

He shook his head again. "Anything but this please."

"You know I love it when you beg. So beg for me."
