Jason jumped on his motorcycle, content for a while just to feel the roar of the engine underneath him. He found himself outside an old warehouse, the one where he killed for the first time while working with Black Mask. His stomach churned, but he shook off his own ridiculousness, Black Mask hadn't been in the city since Jason had shot him last year, and he hadn't headquarter here in two years. The warehouse now sat empty, filled only with memories. And there was no way Roma was going to get the drop on him, he'd be able to fight him off. Jason's hand instinctively dropped to the gun at his waist and he was relieved to find that no one had taken it while he was passed out.

He pulled it out, thoughtlessly checking to make sure it was loaded and flicking off the safety. It felt like lead in his shaking hands.

He collapsed to the ground with a loud sob. He'd worked so hard to hide the details of his past for both his and his families sake. But now they knew everything. He thought about the idea of facing them again and it made his stomach hurt.

He didn't know what was going to happen but no matter what he knew he could never go back. He considered moving cities, maybe even settling down with a nice girl or a cute guy, but the thought of a future past this, past now, didn't seem feasible.

Then a different idea crossed his mind. He held his gun a little tighter, imagining how easy it'd be to put a bullet in his own head, end his life finally in the place it felt like he lost it years ago.

He picked up the gun, saying silent apologies in his head. He placed the gun in his mouth and had his finger over the trigger when he heard a panicked voice.

"Jason! What are you-"

He quickly threw the gun to the side, praying that Bruce hadn't seen what he was doing. Bruce ran over and grabbed gun gun before kneeling in front of Jason. He pulled off his cowl, exposing himself for the first time since Sacrecrow.

"Jason."

His voice was sad. Jason broke down into sobs once again. Any anger he had was at Bruce was gone in that moment, replaced by the clarity at what had happened. He knew his life would never be the same. He could see that written clearly on Bruce's face.

"Jason, come back with me, to the manor. We can figure this out okay?"

He looked up at Bruce and fell back into his old habits. He pushed himself to his feet, willing to follow Bruce to the ends of the earth.
