The next time Maya came to, her body had gone from a burning pain that seemed to course through her veins to a painful throb all over her body. She didn't remember closing her eyes, but at some point the pain must've been too much and she must've passed out.
Maya's eyes fluttered open and she let out a gasp of surprise once she saw Killian standing in front of her. He smiled before saying, "Hi." Maya scowled and looked around only to realize that she was somewhere new and this time, Pepper wasn't with her.
"Where am I? Where's Pepper?" Maya asked as she struggled against her binds. "Now, now, Maya. There's no use struggling and you should know that by now," Killian told her.
Maya scowled at the man. "You think he's going to help you, but he won't. My dad's smarter than that," Maya said.
"You see, that's where you're wrong," Killian said as he leaned against the metal table that she was strapped to. "You're his daughter, his pride and joy. He would do anything for you if that wasn't evident from the look on his face when he saw you screaming in pain."
"Where is he? What did you do to him?" Maya practically growled at the man as her body violently shook causing her to glow a bright orange.
Killian only smirked. "But you see, you're not just here to motivate Tony Stark. You and Pepper are here as my. . ." He trailed off.
"Trophies," Maya muttered as she paled. She felt sick to her stomach and the small chuckle and nod of his head that came from Killian only made her feel even worse.
Something then hit the ground a little ways away from them and Maya quickly turned her head to see what it was. The War Machine suit stood only a little ways away from her. She let out a small sigh of relief before whispering, "Rhodey."
Rhodey was here to save her.
However, she realized just how wrong she was once the suit merely walked forward to Killian. "Good evening, sir," Killian greeted before the suit opened up to reveal the President who fell to his knees.
"Welcome aboard, Mr. President," Killian said as he mockingly saluted the man. The man's eyes flickered over to Maya before he looked to Killian. "You brought a child into this?" He asked.
"Oh, you see, this isn't just any child and I know that you know that. You know very well who she is," Killian told him. "She's still just a child," the President argued. "Let her go."
"I can't do that," Killian said. "I'll be fine, sir," Maya assured the man. The president looked to her and she gave him a pained smile. "It's an honor to meet you in person, Mr. President. But with all due respect, I'll be fine. I've handled worse people than this man over here."
Killian frowned and sent a glare in Maya's direction. "That's enough from you. The President and I will just leave you to your suffering. I'll be back once you've had some time to yourself and we can see if you're willing to cooperate," Killian said.
"Might as well never come back," Maya scoffed. Killian gritted his teeth and turned away from the girl. "Let's go," Killian said as he gestured to some of his minions. They grabbed ahold of the President before walking out of the room.
Once they were gone, Maya let the facade she had been holding up fall. Tears instantly filled her eyes and she let out a pained whimper as she looked down at her glowing skin. Everything hurt and all she wanted was her father.
