What was she doing?
For a long time, she stared up at the screens, questioning herself. The answer was right in front of her, but she stared blankly at it, trying to decipher herself. It took a while before she realized that. She went back to the chair, rolling forward to the computers again. She looked at the screens carefully, noticing one word the majority had in common: NILS.
She switched from the broadcast screen. Seeing as it was a browser, she switched tabs, going into an online dictionary. She then searched the word, trying to look for anything that might help her. So far, nothing satisfied her question on what this NILS is. It would seem she'd have to search the computer itself.
Hours went by as the girl searched, but without a proper way to track the time, it felt longer. Nothing came up about NILS on her system, aside from the code files. Though, she did find some music on the computer. Cheerful and careless, with a small hint of eerieness. They all had some sort of numbering system to them, but even she couldn't figure it out. She did, however, have a name, an identity for herself.
It seems her name was Dedf1sh. Not much of a name, but it was something she could call herself. Now that she knew who she was, she had to know what she was.
She kept searching. Though, there wasn't much info she could pull up. There was nothing about what she was and where she was. At least, not in her computer.
She kicked herself away from the computers, looking around the room. Aside from the DJ equipment next to the computers, a large metal door on the other side of the room, and a vent on another end of the room, there was nothing of interest in the blank room. She wondered, though, what the world was like beyond her room. Scooting over to the vent, she kneeled down, trying to see through the inky darkness of the ventilation shaft. It seemed empty to her. Switching into an octopus, she squeezed through the vents.
She crawled through the vents for what seemed to be hours, soon finding some light within the darkness. She then slipped through the grate, falling down into the room.
The room itself was large and dark, but the only light seemed to come from the only computer in the corner. The rest of the room had beakers placed neatly on countertops and inside cabinets. The computer, however, was what attracted Dedf1sh, who walked over to it. She stared at the screen for a while, before remembering what she wanted to figure out. And so, she typed and searched.
There were blueprints, lots of them, about NILS. She learned it was a statue, with some kind of cannon system inside it, meant to shoot some kind of ink. She stared, reading the various notes written down in the margins and the sides of the drawings. There soon came a time where she just outright switched off the monitor, stepping away from the monitor. She wasn't sure what she was feeling. Disgust? Fear? Anger?
Something with this project was definitely wrong, but she wasn't sure what.
