ᴄʜᴀᴘᴛᴇʀ ғᴏᴜʀThe hall was crammed with a bombardment of students. It was overwhelming.
Perhaps I should ditch it and eat someplace else. I scrunched my eyes tightly shut before reopening them, hoping for people to just go away. Obviously, that didn't work.
I took a deep breath, before exhaling. It'll be fine.
My eyes scanned around the hall, searching for the brunette when a wave caught me off guard.
I looked over and saw a plump boy with black hair waving at me enthusiastically. Next to him sat a rather humiliated Peter, who was currently faceplanting the table.
Chuckling to myself, I made my way over towards the comedic pair.
"Hey, Peter? You alright?"
His head shot up in embarrassment. "Uh, yeah I'm doing pretty good, Olivia. What about you?" He nervously stuttered as the boy next to him watched the scene unfold in amusement.
"I'm doing alright." I smiled. "Who's this?"
The dark haired boy gasped in disbelief. "You didn't even tell her who I was? How rude of you Peter!" He elbowed him as Peter rubbed it in protest.
"This is my best friend, Ned." He nodded towards the boy.
"The guy in the chair..." He smiled. I scrunched my face up in confusion.
Peter shot him a quick glare. "So, Olivia. Band practise starts soon. Want to tag along?" He asked, a hint of hope shining in his eyes.
I nodded. "Sure. How long do we have to eat?" I asked, gesturing towards my lunch.
"We have about ten minutes or so. We'll be good." He reassured as he dug into his own lunch.
I ripped open the sandwich packing and eased it out of its container before taking a few small nibbles out of the bread.
While chewing, I couldn't help but notice some girl staring at me in the corner of my eye. My eyes met with her bored ones.
"Hey, you're new right?" She asked, gaining the attention of both Ned and Peter.
She held out her hand, leaning towards me. "Michelle. But people call me MJ."
I took it. "Olivia. But people call me... Liv?"
She chuckled. "See you around, new kid." She remarked before she picked up her lunch tray and left the table.
"Has she always been sat there?" Ned gave Peter an inquisitive look.
He shrugged. "I think so."
I raised an eyebrow but remained silent as I twisted open my water before chugging down its contents.
"Ready?" Peter asked, disposing his tray on top of the bin.
"Yup." I replied, placing my packages inside the bin also. "I just need to get my violin first."
"Sure!" Peter exclaimed with a smile.
Ned looked at the two of us enthusiastically. "Dibs on the drums!"
I chuckled before exiting the cafeteria, making a gesture to show that I'll only be a minute.
As I turned back around, I smacked into someone, causing me to collapse to the floor in surprise.
I held my head in slight pain. "Sorry..."
"Yeah, you should be."
I peered up and that Flash looming over me. A grin suddenly protruded on his face.
"Hey aren't you Parker's girl?" He asked mockingly.
"No. No sorry, I need to go." I hurried out as I attempted to get past him.
He blocked me. "Have you kissed yet?"
I sighed, keeping my composure. "Please leave me alone," I replied in desperation.
"Have you ever, you know, done it." He smirked.
My face flushed red, my mouth hung open at a loss for words.
"She said to leave her alone, Flash. You dumbass."
He turned around with a scowl on his face. I looked over my shoulder to see my 'saviour'.
It was... Michelle?
"Yeah and why should I listen?" Flash responded rudely.
"Because I'll kick your ass again." She threatened, leaving him with a startled expression.
"Yeah, yeah. I was leaving anyway." He grumbled. "Dorks."
He walked off down the hallway until he was finally out of sight.
"Hey, thanks. That means a lot." I smiled at her to which she smiled back.
"No prob." She shrugged as she turned around on her heels.
"Hey, wait!" I called out as she turned around once more, her hands buried in her pockets. "Me, Ned and Peter were just heading to band. Want to come with us?"
She hesitated. "Sorry, Liv. I've got detention. Some other time perhaps?" She replied, flashing a brief smile before disappearing down the hall.
I blinked a couple of times before I made my way to my locker. The dial was twisted successfully and the locker door was opened. I reached into it and pulled out my violin case, admiring it proudly.
"Hey, you ready?"
"Bloody hell!" I yelled, turning around abruptly.
Peter and Ned stood there.
Ned was giggling in amusement as Peter held up his hands in defence.
"A-Ah! I'm so sorry, Olivia. I didn't mean to scare you!" Peter apologised quickly as I clutched my heart worriedly.
"Please don't do that. It's not good for my..." I trailed off before deciding to brush it under the rug. "Never mind, let's go."
Peter looked over at Ned with concern as Ned shrugged in reply.
"Let me lead the way!" Ned smiled, making Peter and I chuckle at his enthusiasm.
They cannot know.
Not yet.
