*Hmmmmmm.... well. I don't really know what to say. Sorry I took so long? Yeah, I know... not gonna work. *Sigh* I honestly just didn't feel like writing. I don't even know how long it's been, but I'm happy to give this to you! This chapter is like 95% dialogue . I hadn't realized how much I really steered this story off what I expected.... but I'm trying to make sense of it. (;

Chapter 14: Brains May Wander

~~Previously~~

“She’s been infected with it. We need to bring her to the field.” My dad lifted me off the floor and took me to a field with a very anxious Doctor following close behind.

I was totally confused. I felt fine, other than numb legs and a head ache. I didn’t feel cold at all. I looked up at him as he sat me down in a bed that was in the middle of a field.

My dad and the Doctor were discussing things that I couldn’t hear. I tried to sit up, but was stopped by some straps holding me on the bed. “What the…”

The Doctor quickly ran over to me. “Kaitlin, I hate to do this, but you need to stay here. I’m going to put some of this inside of you. It’s going to make you sleep. I will explain when you wake up.”

I nodded and let him poke me in the arm with a needle as I fell asleep quickly

…..................now......................

“MEAP!” I covered my eyes and groaned. “Why are the stupid lights so bright!?”

“Sorry 'bout that, Kait.” The Doctor said. I heard a click. Assuming the lights were off, I opened my eyes and closed them again to find they were in fact, not off. Stupid brightness.

“Not sorry enough to turn them off obviously, thank you!” I grumbled.

“Oh, right.” His sonic, I assume, dimmed the lights. “There we go!”

I opened my eyes cautiously. “Thank you.”

“How're you feeling?” He asked, walking toward me slowly.

“I'm fine.... I would say I'm better, but I don't exactly recall feeling bad. So... yeah. I'm fine. Thank you for asking.” I sat up from the little bed-type thing I was laying on and faced him, finally opening my eyes fully.

He stood in front of me and nodded. “Good, you're a bit grumpy I thought maybe you felt a bit ill...”

“Hey! I am not grumpy!” I kicked him lightly in the shin. And he moved aside.

“Says the girl who just kicked me!”

“Only because you called me grumpy!”

“And my point is proven.” He smiled. Geez, he never knows when to shut up.

“Okay, okay! Fine! Let's see you get blinded by lights first thing after waking up from a forced sleep.”

“Oh! No thank you. Last time someone did that to me, it was actually some kind of dizzy stuff. I got just a little bit delusional and fell in love with a cat.”

“You.... you fell in love.... with a cat. A cat? Why a cat?” I stared at him, with wide eyes.

“Yes. She was a very affectionate little thing.”

“Interesting...” He had put images in my head. Slightly adorable images of him holding a little kitty and kissing it's head.

Unfortunately I was gazing into his eyes, lost in my thoughts.

“What?” He asked, jolting me out of my trance.

“Huh?”

“You were staring at me... why were you staring at me? If it's because of the cat, like I said before, I was just a bit delusional.”

“Oh, uh. I was just..... images.” I said calmly, looking at the floor.

“Images of what?” Aw, gosh darn it. Always with him and the annoying questions!

“Cats.... just cats. Cute little kitties.” I said. At least it wasn't all a lie...

“Oh. Good, I thought you have been judging my bowtie or something....” He smiled and proudly straightened it. He looked like an idiot.... but so adorable at the same time.

Wait a minute.... WOAH! Did I seriously just think that?

I slapped myself, trying to clear my thoughts... which apparently, I shouldn’t have done. I would have been able to avoid the weird stare I got from the madman in a bowtie.

“Uh... just, um.... just wandering thoughts, that's all.” I smiled innocently and began fiddling with my bracelet.

“You sure you're feeling okay?” He put one of his cold on my forehead, making my shiver slightly.

“Yes, I'm fine. I swear on Time and Space. Thank you.” I pulled his hand away let it drop at his side.

“Oh. Okay. Just checking. Can't have any Kaitlins going around not okay.” He smiled. “That would be disaster.”

I frowned. “You and sympathy need to have a chat soon.”

“Oh, no, please. Donna made me do that once. Sympathy isn't very friendly around me.” He winced and then smiled sadly at the memory.

And, I knew it was probably something he didn't want to talk about, but my stupid curiosity got the best of me. “Who's Donna?” I asked softly.

He frowned. “Just an old friend....”

I gave him an apologetic smile. “Sorry, you don't have to talk it if you don't want to.” Though, I was hoping he would.
