Chapter 15: Fancy

Kait walked out of the little room she was in feeling much more refreshed since they first landed on the planet. The Doctor followed behind her with a goofy grin on his face

When she turned to look at him, she burst out in laughter.

He frowned at her very amused expression. “what?” he asked.

Her laughs turned into little bits of giggles. “Nothing...”

He smiled, knowing it must've been about him. “Oh, I think something.” he said.

She pointed to his face. “Ya just look funny sometimes. Walking around all high and mighty like there's no place you'd rather be than dragging along an annoying lunatic.”

“There is absolutely no place I'd rather be right now.” he said gently.

She smiled slightly, trying to hide her laugh of excitement. “You still look funny though.”

“Thank you!” he said, straightening his bowtie.

She nodded and turned around to face the long field propped in front of them. The long field, which seemed to glow a bright green, stretched over the flat land until it poked the foggy blue mountains in the distance.

“So, where are we again?” she breathed.

“We're on your planet,” he said, putting a hand on her shoulder, “You're home.”

She turned to look at him. “But, it doesn’t feel like home. It feels like.... like a familiar place, but it doesn't feel like home. It's like when you move to a new house and it's empty, with all your boxes, waiting to be opened and filled. But this house, my life, the boxes are empty.

“Has it always been like this?” he asked, brushing away some hair from her face.

“Until recently.... there have been times when that feeling leaves. But then it comes back again.”

He smiled sympathetically and left his hand on her cheek. “i promise you, we're going to make that leave.” he said. They were standing there looking into each others souls.

Just at that moment, Kait's dad, Eric, came over and startled them both. “Hah! Kaitie! There you are!” he pulled her away from the Doctor and enveloped her in a tight hug. “Are you feeling okay? Are you better? Is the infection gone?”

“Yes, it's gone. I'm fine.” she grumbled. “Thank you.” she added sarcastically, but he didn't notice her sarcasm.

“It's no problem Kaitie Bear.” he said, stepping away to let her breathe.

She raised her eye brows at him. Kaitie Bear!? What the heck? She looked to the Doctor to see him trying very hard not to laugh.

Kaitie Bear?” he mouthed. She rolled her eyes and brought her attention back to Eric who was staring at her.

“What?”

“Sorry, “ he said, “Just thinking. You've grown so much. Matured even.”

She smiled and nodded. She could remember being a little girl, everyone was taller than her. She had to look up to talk to most people. Also, she was known to be the trouble maker of the young ones. Always breaking important things, running around, playing pranks on her parents.

The Doctor finally decided he was important enough to have conversation in this now, so he stepped to their side and turned them forward, wrapping his arms around both of their necks. “So, who's hungry?”

“Ahm, yes! It's time for you to come and present yourself, Kaitie! We can go greet everyone and the Doctor can come too. So long as he doesn't say anything..... strange.”

“He won't say anything more strange than I will. Promise.” Kait said, nudging the Doctor's side slightly.

Eric pulled them to a large glass building filled with people dressed in fancy things. Inside, there was numerous tables going across the main room and one table set up fancier than the rest in the front.

Kait was standing there with mouth open scanning the room with all it's little statues and things. It was partly out of fear, and partly out of excitement. She had never been the kind of person to wear dresses and eat properly. In fact, in the TARDIS, manners of all kind were basically thrown into a black hole.

Eric smiled, seeing her expression and rushed the two off to check things out and meet people. The Doctor left Kait to do whatever and went to some exploring of his own, probably breaking things.

She was studying a very complicated statue when her concentration was interrupted by two girls behind her. “Excuse me, your majesty?”

She turned around to see two girls. One much taller than the other. They were in a better form of a maid's outfit and they were staring her way eagerly.

Kait looked behind to her to see who they were talking to, but no one was there. She turned back to them and tilted her head.

“Ma'am?” The short one asked.

She looked at the two a second before it dawned on her, that she was being talked to.... not someone else. “Oh, right. Yes. Hi!”

“Hello.” They both said at the same time while bowing.

“Please... don't do that.” she said.

“Oh, of coarse your majesty.” The tall one said.

“You don't have to call me that either.” she laughed.

They both got a confused looked on their faces. “Well, what would you rather we call you?”

“Just call me Kailtyn. That is my name.” she said kindly.

“Well, thank you, Kaitlyn!” The short one said excitedly. They were so happy to have a first-name basis with someone royal. “You're so very kind. Not many are like you. Most of our royals were.... well, they weren't nearly as kind as you are, miss.”

“Well thank you, but... who was it that wasn't kind? I know my dad is the kindest person on Earth....”

“Earth?” The tall one asked, her face twisted in confusion.

“That's were I came from... well, I come from here, but that's were I was. Before I came back. Anyway, he's very kind.

*Okay, I'm done now. I have like 6 more pages but I don't feel like doing anymore right now. I know. I'm sorry. I'm lazy. I did this quickly, sorry for any spelling and/or grammar mistakes.
