When I meant wasting as much time as I could, I didn't mean an hour and a half late for school. Of course, the new girl late on her first day. How amazing, right?
I jumped out of my bed and put on white skinny jeans with a black t-shirt and flats. I grabbed my backpack and ran out of the room. Before I could run down the stairs, I heard a voice.
"Need a ride?" I turned to see my Mom standing at the frame of her door.
"No, thank you..."
She smiled, "The school is only a block away. I can drive you, it's not a big deal."
"I'm already late, I don't have time for this." I continued walking down the stairs. As much as I didn't want to admit that I need my mom, I kind of did.
She walked down behind me and grabbed her keys. We both walked out into her car and she drove me to school.
Once we finally got there after a silent ride, I opened the car door and started to get out.
"All you have to do is go up to that window, " She pointed to a window with a woman sitting on the other side of it. "She will give you a pass and you just sign your name."
"Okay. Thank you." I turned around and started walking to the window, following the instructions that she gave me.
After I got my late pass, the woman told me to sit in the waiting room so she could call down the student who would help me find my way around the school.
I waited about 10 minutes until the student finally came to greet me. She had long, light brown hair that cascaded down her back. She was wearing a tight shirt and very short shorts. I didn't know why she was barely wearing clothes, it was so cold in Maine. Well maybe it's just cold for me considering Texas was nearly always 100 degrees.
"Hey! I'm Lindsey! You're the new girl, right?" She smiled. She seemed to have such strong confidence...I wish I could be like that.
I smiled back, "That's right, I'm Isabella but call me Bella!"
"Alright, Bella! Let me show you around!" She began walking down a hallway. "Can I see your schedule?"
I handed it to her and she smiled at it, "We have 5 classes together! That's a lot considering we only have 8 classes overall!" She looked away from the schedule and up at me.
"I'm glad I know someone in my classes." I smiled at her. She was really nice, I guess this would be a good school...until my worst fear hit me in the face, literally.
"HEADS UP!" I heard a voice shout, I turned around to see who it was but I was a little late and whatever the person had threw, landed right in my face.
I fell right to the floor, I tried to keep myself up by putting my arms out but instead I was completely spread out on the nasty hallway floor.
"Bella, are you okay?" Lindsey sat down next to me and moved the hair out of my face.
I slowly stood back onto my feet again, "I-I'm fine." I tried to shake off the pain that was coming from my wrist.
"I'm sorry! Are you okay?" I heard a boy's voice coming from behind me.
I turned around to see him. He had dark brown hair and bright blue eyes. I suddenly got butterflies in my stomach at the fact someone so cute could be concerned about me.
I gave him a small smile, "Yeah. Everything is okay!"
"Good, I wanted to make sure." He smiled back. "Hey, are you new here?"
"Um, ye-"
Lindsey cut me off, "No! She's been going here since freshman year. How do you not know her Luke?"
Luke. His name is Luke. I know his name, this is a start.
"Oh, sorry. I just haven't see her around. That's all..." He replied to Lindsey. He looked back to me and smiled, "Nice talking to you." Then, he walked off before I could answer.
"Rule number one at this high school, if the popular crowd knows that you're new...they will destroy your social life." Lindsey said to me, which made me break my gaze from Luke as he walked away.
"What? Why?"
"Well, let me introduce myself a little better. I'm Lindsey and in this school, I would be considered popular to 'the popular crowd'. I attend their parties and they are all friends with me. But the truth is, I'm friends with every clique there is in the school." She looked at me and smiled, "Since I'm friends with everyone, I know secrets about each group. I know the popular people and to not let anyone go above their rankings, they completely destroy your social life. If they don't know your new, they will think they have already destroyed yours."
I was so confused, "What does this have to do with Luke?" I asked.
"Luke Stevens is one of the most popular boys at our school. He seemed really interested in knowing you and-"
"Interested in me?" I blushed.
She ignored me and kept going on, "And if he really was interested, he would go tell all his friends. Which would lead to his friends telling their girlfriends, who would eventually ruin your social life, as I said."
I walked with her listening to every word. We had our next class together and she kept going on and on about each clique in our school.
We walked into History class together and we took our seats. I didn't have any supplies with me since it was my first day so I looked over to Lindsey to ask her for a pencil, "Hey, do you-"
I got cut off, "You're in my seat." I looked up and it was Luke. I suddenly blushed at how embarrassing it was. Of course, I would sit in Luke's seat. This would be a lot easier if he wasn't so attractive...
