Autumn

Its smaller than I expected but it will do. I dropped my things on the bed. This room will be mine. I dont have the perfect view of the ocean I always wanted but its a good first step. Tears filled my eyes. I actually did it. Not all by myself but the little things I did helped. Since the place came with all the furniture I only needed to get groceries. I went back to my car to start getting the groceries. I didnt get much, only something that will last me a week. I didnt really know what I was doing. I shopped for myself before but this time it felt so different. I gathered all the bags in my hands. Maybe I was over doing it, a one trip was a habit now. After I was done putting up my food I plopped on my bed.

I need to get a job. Writing was going well but I can always make more money. I took out my computer and started looking for jobs. There were three job openings I saw online. A librarian, a barista at a coffee shop and a receptionist at some local company. I called all three and got interviews for all three next week. Now that thats done I didnt have anything to do.

I was getting hungry and didnt want anything in the fridge so looked up somewhere to eat. I know I just got groceries but I want to treat myself tonight. There was a small restaurant by the beach. I was going to go but I read a comment saying they were out of business. So I decided to go to a panini restaurant. It wasnt as far as my first option. It was in walking distance which was good because I wanted to walk.

I walked into the small restaurant. There were people infront of me so I looked around until it was my time to order. A pretty brunet met me with a smile. We said hello to each other and I ordered.

"Are you new here?"

"Oh, yes how did-"

"Everyone here is either a regular, new or passing. I'm Marilyn by the way.

"I'm Autumn."

"There is a cute singer singing at a bar not too far from here. You want to come hang out?"

"Well I'm not old enough to go to a bar."

"Most of us aren't haha. Sorry I just want you to have fun. I know how it is to move somewhere and not knowing anyone."

"Well thank you I will think about it."

"Good, the bar is called Sky Bar. Hopefully I will see you there."

I gave her a smile then grabbed my food. I wanted to eat outside because the sun was setting. Even when the Sun's setting its still so hot.

I finished eating then looked up how far the bar was from here. It was only a few blocks away. I walked back up to the register to see if she was ready ro leave.

A hand softly pulled on my arm. I turned around and saw her smiling at me. We headed out the door then twards the bar. She must have changed because now she was wearing a leather jacket leather boots and dark blue jeans and a cropped white shirt. She also had a few piercings and tatoos. I felt out of place in my outfit. I had on a short red sundress and beige wedge sandles that tied just above my ankles.

"What's wrong?"

"Should I be wearing leather as well?"

She snorted then said, "No, of course not. You look great. They don't mind what you wear. Actually I think the guys would like it."

She opened the door for me. I walked in to the crowded place. People were dancing to the band that played. I wondered if the guy she talked about was singing in the band.

"Marilyn!"

A group of people yelled her name. There were so many people they needed three tables. I followed her to the group of people. Their eyes were on me, they were all kinda intimidating.

"Who is this beauty?" A guy with a very defined jawline and a perfect set of hazel eyes asked. He had loose curls that stopped just above his eyebrows. I wonder if I could run my hands through it. His throat was pretty nice too. I watched as he took a swig of his beer.

"Oh shut up, Preston."

No, Preston please don't shut up. I didn't want to talk to anyone else. I wished he would have said come outside with me.

"Don't mind him. He finds every girl except his girlfriend sexy."

"I told you she's not mine. But hey baby if you wanna be mine I'm all yours for tonight."

He made me want to take him up on that offer. But then again would I be in the wrong if I did? I mean why else am I here if not to get laid by this.....Greek god. I looked at him hoping he would see I wants him to come to the bar and get me a drink.

After everyone said hey I told Marilyn I wanted to go get a drink. I told her no and that I wanted to get it. One reason I said that is so she can keep talking to her friends. Another reason was so that Preston could talk to me more.

I went up to the bar alone. I would feel bad if he didn't show.

"Three beers."

I got chills. I turned to see if it was really him. The bartender gave him the beers. He gave me two before drinking some of his.

"Thanks."

"No problem, so what about my offer?"

"Lets see how the night goes."
