Chapter 12

Eren's POV

Levi's backstory was definitely a tragic one, but no matter what happens I'll stay by his side. I pulled him into my lap so that he was facing me. He looked up shyly, probably still slightly scared that I'd run and never look back, so I smiled at him and began to stroke his head. He blushed faintly but didn't pull away. Suddenly there was a loud crash from the main part of the hotel room. Our eyes met and we both shrugged, unsure of what it was we decided to check it out. I opened the door and stepped through, closely followed by Levi. Both of us froze when we saw a male with their hands around Hanji's throat.

Erwin was staring at the broken window in a mixture of surprise and horror because he knew he'd have to pay for that, and the fact someone broke through in the first place. Levi sprung into action quickly. He kicked the man in the side of the head which sent him sprawling across the floor. I went and knelt beside Hanji to make sure they were OK after having almost been choked to death.

"Are you alright Hanji?"

"Yeah. I'm fine, thanks." The brown haired male groaned as he lay on the floor. I'm honestly surprised he wasn't knocked out. Unless, Levi was holding back? I suppose that's possible. Levi was standing beside the intruder as he lay on his back.

"Who are you and what are you doing here?" Levi demanded in a cold, deadly tone. I've never heard him speak like this before, it's terrifying. 

"My name is Arran and I came to kill Hanji Zoe, if that wasn't already obvious enough." He sounded pretty confident despite his position. "Anyway, where'd a midget like you learn to kick like that?" Oh no. I lept over to Levi and grabbed his arm before he had the chance to kill the boy who insulted him.

"Don't do it Levi. It's not worth it." He stopped struggling and looked up at me before sighing. Levi turned his attention back to Arran.

"To answer your question I taught myself to kick like that and do not call me midget ever again or I will kill you slowly and painfully, am I understood?" Levi glared until Arran nodded then proceeded to turn around and go back to the bedroom. Arran stood up and dusted himself off.

"What's his problem?" Hanji walked over to stand beside me.

"Now now, he was just helping me out. Speaking of, why were you trying to kill me?" He smirked then opened his mouth to speak but Erwin cut in.

"You don't remember? You arrested him for armed robbery because he was loitering outside the bank that got robbed. You managed to convince the jury he was guilty but he always claimed he was innocent." Hanji's face lit up in recognition.

"Oh yeah, I remember. As he was being dragged from the court room he yelled 'I'll make you pay Hanji Zoe, just you wait'. That's you right?" Hanji sounded too excited and the Arran boy just nodded.

"I'd have killed you too, if it wasn't for that midget get-"

"I TOLD YOU NOT TO CALL ME MIDGET!" Levi hollered from the bedroom. I winced at the harsh tone while Hanji looked amused.

"I'd listen to him if I were you, he's an assassin." Hanji cackled before losing interest in him and moving to be beside Erwin. Arran looked over at me, head tilted to one side.

"You an assassin as well then?" I shook my head, he's kidding right? You can tell by looking at me that I wouldn't be cut out for that line of work.

"No. I'm too weak." He stepped toward me and slid his arm around my waist. "Let go please." My voice came out strained. Arran grinned a Cheshire cat grin.

"Why's a cutie like you hanging round with such a dangerous man." I squirmed in his grip but he just pulled me closer to him, and he wrapped his other arm around me. I started to panic. I looked around the room but Hanji and Erwin must have went to the bedroom to see Levi, and sadly they closed the door behind them. I was alone.
